I read there was a legal detail that did not make it necessary for one to be able to face their “accuser” somehow but don’t recall the details now…
Been a long time since i had seen that case law. Years back i got pulled over on I57 going to st Louis for a big 1/8th scale race. Cop told me miles up the road where he was i got hit by a camera a ways back. I paid the bs ticket and later found out about the cameras being unconstitutional in a Supreme court case or something since you have the RIGHT to question the accuser in a court of law. Lil hard to ask a camera anything since it's a fixed non humane piece of equipment.

Not a fan of the cameras, they should be outlawed.

Regardless, pay the fine, get the points (or not if it's just a fine), or get an attorney to squash it.

On I-80 in the Quad Cities, there are speed cameras just as you enter Iowa. Very well marked and their presence is known. Traffic slows to the 60mph speed limit through there...

Yeah, I guess to me it is more annoying to hear about people who violate traffic laws and whine about it, than it is the cameras or humans who catch them.

HB 1015 is headed to the Governor's desk.

If signed, INDOT will be able to operate up 4 speed cameras in construction zones across Indiana. First offense is a warning, then fines.

However, as I read the bill...

It will NOT take a picture of the front of a vehicle, meaning the driver (Sec 15 a)
It is PRESUMED the OWNER is the operator (Sec 17 a + b)
The owner will have to prove it was not them driving (Sec 17 e 1 B)
The owner will have to prove there was no workers present (Sec 17 e 4)
The owner cannot face their accuser, as it is a computer
The owner is automatically guilty until they prove innocence

These are civil penalties, not fines, tickets, or infractions (Sec 17 e)
The image cannot be used as evidence of a traffic offense (Sec 16 a + b)
The money goes into the General Fund, aka the state's pocket (Sec 17 d)
If not an infraction, offense, or ticket... then it is automated revenue generation

Give your kid a car, you get the bill
Loan a car to a friend, you get the bill
Drive a company car, boss gets the bill
Drive your wife's car, she gets the bill (and you sleep on the couch)

As much as I support reducing speeding in construction zones... This is bad law, and unconstitutional, IMHO.
It’s these feckless RINO turds who loves them some big government nanny **** need to go. Now I have to go figure out if my reps voted for this nonsense.

How about the cities that run cameras miscalibrated?
Cities knowingly giving out wrong tickets, and refusing to fix them, because they generate income?

    That's what court is for.

    That's what court is for.
    It's already been discussed.
    And it's in the article.
Cities are not correcting the problem.
Telling people to deal with the camera company.

Cities like Chicago will correct a ticket only for the person that goes to court, but leave the badly operating camera in place.

    I touched on this before.
Some bad laws are kind of snuck(sneaked) by The People by incrementally loosening our resolve and once it seems amost commonplace for this to happen everywhere else ... Boom!

We have another useless Big Gub'ment local law that is an offense to our Constitution on many levels.
