I wonder who will be making the big bucks off of this. Kinda like the gunshot locaters some years back. Chief of police pushed for it and then quit and went to work for the company that signed them up.

Many places have been using this technology for DECADES. Back in 1998 when I worked for a security company in Indianapolis, they told me the the Hoosier Dome had and used facial recognition software even back then.
Many other police departments have been using it for a long time, with little to no media coverage.
As mentioned, Walmart uses it as well.
The BMV has been using it for a long time. With the older versions, they didn't want you to smile for the DL picture because it didn't work with the software as well.
Casinos have used it since it existed.
Facebook not only uses, but develops some of the most sophisticated versions. The trend of people taking "selfies" and tagging themselves and their friends in all of their pictures is like a wet dream for the NSA.

This technology has been around, and it's here to stay. It's a totally different world we are living in now...

Are our drivers license photos in a facial recognition system?
Exactly. That is why you cant smile, cant wear glasses, etc. anymore. That is the whole purpose of those rules and nothing more. And it doesnt even need to be a Real ID compatible card. ALL photos now must follow those rules regardless so that it doesnt break the facial recognition system.
