Does anyone know a good place to get an SKS, preferably in Southern Indiana? I'm looking for a Russian one, but I can go with any of the other varients if need be. Also, what prices should I be expecting? Feel free to discuss the SKS in this thread, and post pictures.

I think in today's market if you could get a Chinese SKS for less than 400 you'd be doing good. I paid 175 for mine about 3 yrs ago.

Love my chinese SKS. My favorite gun.

The Russian rifles will cost you more, there are a couple on Gunbroker at any given time. Norincos aren't bad, are more common and will save you a few bucks. Yugos can be had pretty cheap too, I picked one up recently at my favorite LGS for $250. They are better quality than the Chinese guns but you either have to live with the grenade launcher or (like I'm doing to mine) take it off. It is not designed to be removeable so there is some work involved.

Don't know if there are any left but Orion had a bunch of them 2 weeks ago. They were all in pretty rough shape and priced high..... Doubt your going to find anything priced low at the moment though.

Ya the ones at Orion were very rough on the furniture. Toss in a tad high for the quality you got I'm pretty sure that is why they are still there. Had they been about 100-150 cheaper I would have bought one.

    SAMCO is always an option:

Just send them a signed copy of your favorite LGS's FFL and the rifle ships to your LGS wh does the transfer. My guy charges $25.

I think the Zastavia made SKSs to be the cream of the crop.
