Couldn't stand the super heavy trigger so I worked it over last night. Still a bit stout, but a definate improvement. Took it to the range after work today and put near a hundred rounds through it. Shot very well. I basically bought it to fix up a bit and use for FNS. I used up all the front sight adjustment and it was a still shooting left at 25 yds! Not a problem once I get a red dot on it.
I had no problem putting 20 rounds into one decent sized hole, except for one flyer! I was shooting a 29 round mag and after 20 shots, the hole seemed to be staying the same, so I figured why waste ammo shooing through a hole? Ha s acouple of times where the trigger pull did nothing; I think I may have to add some pressure back to the trigger spring as the disconnector felt like it wasn't re engaging the sear after releasing the trigger. We'll look at that tonight. Try to get up a bragging pic of the one target I saved.
Thanks, Slab, for the good little carbine!

Here you go. 20 rounds, 25 yards, off of a rest. WWB 165gr Trunicated nosed FMJ. Looking forward to getting the red dot on it and trying it out with my 180gr handloads!

Been meaning to ask you... HTF do you put a red dot on one of those things?

basically, I'm going to mount a rail on top of the fore-arm. It kills the foldability fo the gun, but for this one, not a big deal. Kel-Tec make s a side swing scope mount that is for 1" tubes only and is famous for NOT returning to zero! I wish they would just redesign the fore-end to include half a picatinny rail on each side, so you could readily mount an optic if you choose to do so.

I'm going to use a set of these cheap rails from CTD:

Made to attach to an AR-15 carbine fore-end. It'll entail some drilling, some epoxying, but in teh end, it should be straigh, solid and removable just in case. If you look at teh gun porn pages of the SUB2K section of KTOG, some guys use several of these:

I suppose they work, but they are uglier than home made sin! I'm planning on another G2 Surefire underneath and possibly even a VFG, depnding on how it feels.

I think I'm going with the big dot PDP II I asked about in teh accessories forum.
Should be done and sighted in by next month's FNS!!

I've seen similar and it makes sense if you want to keep the rifle foldable. However look at thoe top pic and see where the rear sight is compared tot he center of the dot. I set a BSA 30mm red dot on my fore end and it co-witnessed exactly with the front sight while looking through the rear peep.
I've made my rear peep able to be folded forward while open and I'm trying to figure out some way to make the front sight foldable. Really, it's going to be another range toy, so a dead battery will be a bummer, but not a life threatening thing. If I come to FNS with it and can't shoot through the red dot, I jsut have to go to my truck and pick up the one that lives there!

Yep, that' spretty kick-ass. Saw that a couple fo days ago. Look slike a great idea and I bet he'd sell quite a few of them if the price was reasonable. Looks like you have to be a KTOG member with a certain number of posts to even see the classifieds section and that's going to be the sole retail outlet for it.

I don't really care either way for the stock, but i dig the single point sling loop on the collar. Funnything is that collar tightenes up plastic threads on teh rear of each reciever half, so I wonder how they time it so that it hits the left side, 9 o'clock.

That's a bummer! At least you've still got the AK, right? Want to sell that Tacticool stock tube cover and extra mag to me? Did you get the Harris #5 fit to your AR yet?

    Later,

How many rounds do you have through your sub2000? My friend has one and the recoil alone was enough to make me want to write Kel-tec and complain. The knob for the bolt is in a bad place too. I say bad design dressed up as a transformer. To each his own. My friend might be contacting you about that rail system.

I will pass on the buffer spring info to my friend. I also think the bolt could be lightened. Might do well to get a butt pad as well. I guess I'm spoiled with all those years of shooting an M4. The Sub2000 is a great way to make your pistol ammo carry over to a shoulder fired weapons system. Crossover compatibility was one of the things my friend and I were discussing when he made the decision to go with the 9 mm version.
