Laws that are against you surviving are unjust.

There are two reasons for law, and generally we only think of one. The setting of limits against bad actions is what we know. Murder is not allowed, child molestation is not allowed, etc.

The 2nd and equally important reason for law is to exonerate and even honor those who acted in accordance with the intent and the spirit of the law. For example, a mad man breaks into your legal home, making every effort to murder you. You have to fight to the death, but you prevail. A just law proves you are innocent of wrong doing. Most of society applauds you for saving your family. In a place that does not have that, you are a criminal for not allowing yourself to be murdered.

Bring it close to home. You are in Chicago, lawfully going about your business. Things get bad when a criminal attacks, and you have to shoot him. Guess what, mandatory sentencing for possession and use of a gun will lock you up. With that conviction, you are opened up to lawsuits from whatever family the slimeball has not spoken to for a decade. (Look at the army of distant realatives that claimed to be paralyzed in grief loosing Geo. floyd) So you run off, and do not say anything. Now you have to live the rest of your life looking over your shoulder and never get the legal affirmation of society that you acted in a just manor. That is unjust.
