Seems i have got some oil or grease on my scope lens. I used the provided lens cloth to try and wipe off but it just seemed to smear it around. Any ideas on some thing to clean it with that is coating safe???

I use the disposable eyeglass cleaners...you know like the little moist toweletts you get a rib joint...only made for galsses..

I keep some packed in my range kit and have them handy when I hunt. Any eyeglass store has them.:)

I use methanol and a kimwipe....but mainly because I have them around for camera cleaning.

Plain water works, distilled if you have it. Isopropyl alcohol does too.

If its a good quality scope that is water proof just toss it in the dishwasher. Always works for me.

You are joking, right? Please say yes.

My daughter is a photographer and she cleans my lenses for me with alcohol and swabs. I have used houshold glass cleaner but I can't tolerate the looks she gives me if she catches me doing it. ( I still don't think it hurts the coated lenses)

I've always been afraid to touch the lenses on my scopes, fearing that anything I use might only make matters worse. Preventive care makes sense to me. However, I think I'll check the manual that just came with my newest Leupold to see what they recommend.
