You guys didn’t help, now I want now worse. If I find one in 300 savage or 250-300; is ammo available? I think these are about the sexiest looking guns made.
A 99 chambered for .308 is good for everything from bunnies and squirrel to elk.
My dad got an elk with his .300 Savage so the .308, yeah it'll work.
For the every day table fare all you need is a tiny bit of pistol powder, a light weight .32ACP slug and a good recipe for dumplings.
Had a Savage .300 as a kid. Many water heaters fell to it.
I do not like the rights. IIRC I went with a Lyman 66. That helped.
Rifle heats up quickly and groups open up (may not be concern to you but when faced with charging water heaters and an AMC Gremlin), you will thank me!
I've always wanted to download some .30-30 with a similar load. Something quiet and slow. Do you need to fill the case with something inert to prevent 'splosions?
I’ve got a Savage 99 chambered in 300 savage that was made in 1951. I’d say it’s in 90% or better condition..... just a jewel. My favorite rifle and one no amount of $$$ could buy. Bought it the day my youngest grandson was born... when they plant me it will be his. I’ve owned a multitude of leverguns and the 99 is just heavenly!!!
