Oh! Thus the "ML" for muzzle loader. D'OH!

Still pretty cool. Are you going to use it this year for whackin' bambi?

What would be really cool is if you could get "pellets" of smokeless like the Pyrodex things. It would make your quest simple.

yeah, it lets me have extra time to try to get more of the tree killers..

I just tried it out with tripple 7 pellets.. but it is a pain to have to clean it right away..
So I need to work up a smokeless load for it..

Between us both we get to take 18 deer.. before we have to pay for permits..

I don't like venison that much, but if I did, I'd be visiting. Frequently!

Now, if you happen to bring down a bison that wanders onto your property . . .

Heh ... if we could hunt a bison, I think I'd want to chase him, leap on his back, and bite him on the throat until he was down.

Did I mention that eating bison tended to make me feel a bit more aggressive than I am usually?

Great just we need a more aggressive Rhino...

ANyway back on topic.. I got to shoot the 10ML yesterday.. I did not have a smokeless load worked up, and I just wanted to see how the gun would do... SO I picked up some tripple 7 ..

A LOT less recoil than I was expecting..
of course as heavy as that gun is..
    I have the SS version..

I think the 10ML is the only way to go for muzzle loaders. It just makes sense. You do not have to religiously clean. It will not be in the cards this year, so I will try my luck with my Marlin 1894 in .44 Mag. I am dreading how full the Morgan-Monroe forest will be with hunters. I am taking off the first three days of next week to hopefully get a little reduced hunting load there.

    range update

i finally got some AA5744 to use with my 10ML.. and went to sight it in..
first 3 shots were fine.. then next 3 would not hit the paper..
when i got home i found the breach plug had shot loose...

i had double checked it before i loaded for the first time...

It is a bit of a pain to check the breach plug since the rear stock bolt has to be removed so the action bolt can be removed to gain access to the breach plug...

I have personally seen one of those 10ML in action. They are stupid accurate! Shooting at milk jugs at my buddy's orchard from 250 yards away is more fun that anything I have done to date. He put a "human" sized board at 300 yards and consistently hit it.

With the muzzleloading technology today, it is crazy what lies out there for the new age hunter.
