So, I don't know which one I want. I initially wanted the 15-22, but theyre just kind of expensive right now.

The only reason I really wanted the 15-22 was because I wanted an AR in .22lr, except now, I'm thinking it doesn't really matter whether it's an AR or just any semi auto .22lr.

    Thoughts? Thanks guys! :yesway:

If you own a AR then get a 22 bolt kit and be done. If not then the 15-22.
I've owned a Ruger 10-22 and was never impressed. The Marlin 60 is a better shooter.

If you want a AR style the. It answers the question. I'd just wait it out. Or goto a gun show and drop $100 on a nice Model 60.

If you want an AR style get the SR22 or just buy the 10/22 and there are a bunch of aftermarket AR style kits for it. I have a target model 10/22 and it is a tack driver also have a SR22 and it is the nicest AR style 22 I have seen short of buying an actual 22 upper.

    Buy one now.

    Buy the other later.

In all seriousness, I have both and they are both great! You won't be disappointed with either.

I would buy the 10/22 then later purchase a dedicated .22LR upper for a AR-15 lower. This way you have the correct rifling twist for the 22LR in a AR platform vs a conversion bolt kit.

Nothing wrong with the 15-22. I just wasn't partial to the light weight feel of it and sold it.

Yeah, that sounds good. Get a 10/22 soon, then a dedicated .22lr upper for an ar-15 later (if we're still allowed lol).

    Thanks guys!

If you are an AR guy then the 15-22 is a cheap way to train with a rifle that functions just like an AR. I have both and say just buy the one that fits your needs best...there is no bad choice between the two.

I say get the 10/22. Then mod it to be more like an AR. you can always take it back to stock whenever your want. Here is my sons 10/22.

His conversion is the archangel 5.56 conversion kit approx $100.
He is saving for his red dot sight as we speak. speaking of which I think I need some wood split!

What's the deal with the marlin 60? Should I really be considering it over the 10/22?

The M&P 15-22 is cool, but WAY overpriced right now for what it does. I agree with getting a 10/22 and modifying it to suit the tactical feel you are going for.

However, I have a friend who get a M&P 15-22 to use for training (muscle memory) for his AR-15. The advantage being that he can shoot all day for a few bucks (cheap 22) versus much more for 223/556.

I like the idea of getting both.......:D

If it were me, I would get the 10/22 first and go from there. I would not pay the going prices on most of these M&P 15-22s right now.
