So about a year ago, my father lost the use of his right hand. Being that he was now unable to shoot with his dominant hand he began "carrying left." Unfortunately this now ment that he was cross eye dominant, and he began having trouble acquiring the sights with any speed.

We began looking for other options. Originally we had looked at the use of a compact red dot sight. And while it was promising the drawbacks outweighed the benefits for him. Dust, dirt and moisture could severely obstruct the field of view, batteries could die, glass could break...

Then I borrowed the orlob triple Occluder from Melensdad and it made a huge difference for him.

    Melensdad's review here:

This sight really worked well. It was much easier to pick up the sights with your nondominant hand. And there was nothing to break, no batteries to die, and nothing to malfunction.

Another side benefit from the sight is that it sits just to the rear of the ejection port. With a little practice it is possible to safely manipulate the firearm one handed without the use of a belt or table edge etc. By shifting the gun in your hand you place the left thumb under the beavertail and your fingers in front of the occluder sight grasping the slide.

Now just push on the grip with your thumb and actuate the slide.

Bottom line, if cross eye dominance is an issue, this sight is definitely the best thing going.
