I am a Christian and I disagree with this.

That implies that without God you are immoral. Which is wrong.

I know good, honest people that are non believers. While rare, they do exist.

Can people abandon God, and abandon the moral code He created? Yes.
Can people abandon God, while keeping his moral code? Also Yes.

Religion is comprised of two core principles.
Acknowledging there is a right/wrong standard. Acknowledging you don't meet that standard all the time.
Acknowledging there is a way to overcome your shortcomings to be made more like God.
Christianity accepts the idea that we can never be "good enough" to be like God, but if we accept Christ's grace we can accept God's making us "good enough" through Him.

And here is where I was coming from in my disagreement with Flightsimmer:

So if a person keeps commandments 5-9 (maybe 10), doesnt lie, cheat, treats others with respect, etc they are not good people (in a secular context) because they also dont keep commandments 1-4?
