Ha, who would have guessed that the truth would come out of the mouths of Obama's own people. Apparently everyone can have FREE health care, as long as they pay for it in new tax increases!!! Yup, you now have a choice, you can have your health care bill arrive as a monthly statement where you write a check, or you can pay for it via payroll deduction, courtesy of Mr Obama's tax and spend programs.

Obama officials: Taxes may rise to pay health care

By PHILIP ELLIOTT, Associated Press Writer
    41 mins ago

WASHINGTON – Two of President Barack Obama's economic heavyweights said middle-class taxes might have to go up to pare budget deficits or to pay for the proposed overhaul of the nation's health care system.

The tough talk from Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and National Economic Council Director Lawrence Summers on Sunday capped a week that brought rare good news for the economy: The worst recession in the United States since World War II could be on the verge of ending. Even so, officials appeared willing to extend unemployment benefits.

Geithner and Summers both sidestepped questions on Obama's intentions about taxes. Geithner said the White House was not ready to rule out a tax hike to reduce the federal deficit; Summers said Obama's proposed health care overhaul needs funding from somewhere.

"There is a lot that can happen over time," Summers said, adding that the administration believes "it is never a good idea to absolutely rule things out, no matter what."

During his presidential campaign, Obama repeatedly pledged "you will not see any of your taxes increase one single dime." But the simple reality remains that his ambitious overhaul of how Americans receive health care — promised without increasing the federal deficit — must be paid for.

I am about to stop reading this type of information... it only makes me more and more angry. These people are sick! It's like building that stupid Lucas Oil stadium that our state doesn't need; then, taxing people for it! I'm glad I don't live in marion co, so I don't have to pay for something like that. I haven't watched a sporting event, or attended one in YEARS.

This healthcare will be just like that. Sickafantic delusionists...

WTF! When the sheeple elected this rat bast@rd in, wasn't one of his platforms more of a socialist one - ie: going to tax the shiite out of the rich, and give to the rest of the country? So, my question is this...... after trying so hard before the election to warn people about the dangers of voting for I6BO, and trying to educate those same people about the river of B.S. that was spewing out of that worthless *$&k's pie hole (I would have said bacon hole.....but you have to be human to enjoy bacon :D); just how many of those same sheeple are left standing there thinking "Dear God in heaven, what have we done"? I would be curious as to the actual number of people who have had that very OH SHIITE moment......

I thought it might take longer before they hinted at this.

I wasn't shocked to read this article, but I did expect that they might wait until after the 2010 elections. So much for another campaign promise.

YouTube - OBAMA'S GONNA PAY FOR MY GAS...

Also don't foget this "tax increase" will only affect WORKING people. Not sure how many "non working people" (read welfare) voted for I6BO but suspect that the majority of them did. So in reality his sheep are not going to be hurt by this at all. After all they don't work norpay taxes but continue to benefit from all the programs.

Elections have consequences and this one is quickly rushing back to bite those that were, for whatever reason, willing to believe that he could follow through on any of his campaign promises. Hold on to your butts because your standards of living are going to be lowered. Those that say that they are saving up to buy a gun might want to buy it as fast as possible because you are not going to be able to save any money in the very near future. Anyway, VAT that is being seriously discussed will raise the price of almost anything you buy by up to 25%. A VAT is essentially a national sales tax for those of you who did not know that. I did not vote for him, but for those who did, you put the hangman's rope around all of our necks. I just hope that you are young and stay healthy and will never have to depend on the healthcare plan. Elections do have consequences.

It's not about them being dumb. It's about unsubstainability. Look at the State of CA. The Ds had no choice but to agree with the majority of the TERMINATORS budget cuts. They are closing parks, cutting funds to education, to health care, to welfare, etc. You get to a point where the numbers can just no longer be suagr-coated and nobody will give you more money. CA could not find additional funding (no loans) and as such what is the other option: raise taxes or cut. The raise taxes measure fell in the state so cut was the only option left.

I6BO was given a bad hand to play with in the economy. Prior administrations messed it up good but I6BO is playing it wrong by spending more. If he really wanted change to occur then from day 1 he sould of told congress. NO SPENDING PERIOD! Oh and BTW we are going to reduce the debit. So Congress find ways to cut all your budgets and tighten our belts.

How do you figure there will be a backlash? Over 50% of Americans won't be paying income taxes under bammy anyway. That is his biggest core of supporters.

And that very same population (which is actually less than 50%) has very little influence on what happens in the political landscape. Obama was able to win the election with undecideds and folks that are slightly right of center, which are traditionally middle class. If it ultimately comes down to raising taxes on the middle class, and backtrack on his no new taxes campaign pledge, I dont see health care reform happening any time soon. Then again, if it does happen, it wont be the first time a president has backtracked on similar no new taxes pledges (HWB). In this case, I dont see them ramming health care through, if there is no way but to raise taxes. Now if they keep ramming health care through and raise taxes, the dems can kiss their control of the house and the presidency in 2012 goodbye.

The backlash will come when the rich are no longer rich and the poor no longer get what they 'deserve' and expect. This is an administration where promises cannot be kept and, have in fact been over-promised. There is simply not enough to go around for a very long time. Short term they can promise anything and deliver a good amount of it, but it can't last.
