I really have no desire to meet you Kut, sorry but I'd still like to meet BBI but that looks unlikely.

Not at all. I'm not angry, and I don't dislike you. I also understand you've had some medical issues and perhaps you view this as more of a place for socializing entertainment and less for actual exchange of information. While I'm happy to socialize, and have made friends here, my goal is primary the exchange of information. If you wish to honestly debate it, with details, I'm up for it. I find I tend to learn more dealing with people who disagree with me than the opposite. I'm not trying to convert you, but to show you another side of Islam so that perhaps we all get along better. As I mentioned in the last thread that took this route, I do the same when I'm in the Middle East. There are a lot of misconceptions and stereotypes there, as well. I try to bridge some of those misunderstandings from both directions. I also am quite up front about what I value in friends, what traits I respect, and which ones I don't. I'm a bit more...blunt when in person. I also curse more. Like a lot more. Stupid INGO rules prevent me from wielding my art here, but sometimes profanity is a paint brush and the world is a canvas...

It gave me a chuckle that me and Kut are a "tag team" now. That's the funniest thing in the thread so far. I'd meet Kut, however I don't think we'd be on anyone's top 10 list of INGO chummy couples. I believe the offer of a soda was made and is still pending, but I think perhaps you overestimate our level of collaboration here.

First BBI and now you???? Steaks are "done", people are "finished".....I mean am I the only...Wait...I'll let my chubby alter ego speak for me...

Really? "I'm done with this conversation" isn't correct? And YOU grammarized me? Don't you have some winders to warsh? Do you need to bahrry a sponge? :D

I thought I was going to find three pages about Obama's plans to rule the world. All I got was arguing religion. Didn't see that coming. But it was still worth the read if for nothing else, this gem:

"rules prevent me from wielding my art here, but sometimes profanity is a paint brush and the world is a canvas..."

    That's just beautiful, man.

Every once in a while, a thread comes along that truly delivers. This one is holding the number 1 spot at present.

In light of some prior "ignore list" action I seem to remember, a Mod really needs to change the thread title to "BBI and Kut have Glorious Make-up Relations (NSFW)"

I haven't gotten my soda yet, so let's not call it too early. I did get a cheeseburger from Rhino recently, though, and he went the whole meal without cutting himself. I know, I know, I wouldn't have believed it either but it happened right in front of me.

...but as far as clickbait titles, I'm sure that'd drive a ton of views.

Let's look at some of the names on that list:

Major General Michael Carey – As commander of the US land-based nuclear missile program, Carey was responsible for three units of ICBMs. He was relieved in October 2013 for his conduct on a July trip to Moscow, where he went on what news reports called a “drunken bender,” fraternized with local women and made inappropriate comments disparaging the Russian military. As a result, he was reassigned and made Special Assistant to the Commander of Air Force Space Command in Colorado.

Vice Admiral Tim Giardina – Giardina served as chief of staff of the US Pacific Fleet and was the number 2 officer of US Strategic Command (StratCom) until being relieved of duty in September 2013, following an investigation into his use of fake casino chips in a poker game. This is a class D felony in Iowa, where StratCom is located. He was already due to leave StratCom, and his bio currently lists him as “assigned to the staff of the vice chief of naval operations.”

Lieutenant General David Holmes Huntoon, Jr. – Huntoon was serving as the Superintendent of the United States Military Academy in West Point until June 2013, when a report of an Inspector General’s office investigation was released, which found that he had misused his position and forced subordinate officers to perform personal tasks. Huntoon was given a letter of reprimand, allowed to resign from his post and took his mandatory retirement the next month.

Major General C.M.M. Gurganus – This was one of two generals asked to retire early by the Commandant of the Marine Corps after a September 2012 Taliban surprise attack on a Marine airbase. Gurganus was found to have “not taken adequate force protection measures” at Camp Bastion, which led to the death of two Marines and the destruction of six Harrier jet fighters.

Major General Gregg A. Sturdevant – Sturdevant was the other general asked to retire in the wake of the Camp Bastion attack.

Brigadier General Bryan Roberts – The former commanding officer of Fort Jackson, the largest training post in the US Army, Roberts was suspended in May 2013 after an investigation into adultery and a physical altercation with a woman described as his mistress. Adultery in the military is punishable as an action that can bring discredit upon the armed forces.

Major General Ralph Baker – Baker was removed from his post as commanding officer of Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, as well as fined, after an administrative hearing into alcohol abuse and sexual misconduct charges in April 2013.

Rear Admiral Charles Gaouette – Gaouette held the position of commanding officer of Carrier Strike Group Three until a reprimand from the US Navy led to his removal. He was found to have used profanity in public and made several racially insensitive remarks. The origin of the complaint might have come from the captain of the aircraft carrier assigned to the Strike Group, who alleged Gaouette had humiliated him in public.

General Carter F. Ham – The commander of US Command Africa, Ham retired in the wake of the September 2011 attack on the US consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Though the attack itself generated enormous controversy and blame on the Obama administration, Ham himself was never reprimanded and served the entirety of his two-year posting in Africa, retiring as scheduled at age 62, after a 40 year career.

It this counts as purged, I imagine the rest of the list is quite dubious at best.

    Kut (clamps)

Well, would you expect a reason such as "politically unreliable" to be stated?

Note well, I am not disagreeing with you, Kut. The idea of Obama declaring martial law to stay in office is ludicrous at best.

I did did find one of the charges, stated above, - public use of profanity - to be somewhat laughable. Patton must be rolling over in his grave!

You think the results would be significantly different? Their own commands did the firing, not the President. In fact, I suspect the Joint Chiefs of Staff would *politely* tell any sitting President to STFU when it came to personnel decisions. That's their playground.

David has this one right, somewhat. JCS are not known for standing up to a President. JCS are political types and rarely will you see one follow Ron Fogleman's lead and resign.

Read HR McMaster's "Derilection of Duty" for insign on how the JCS politicization was a major contributor to the Viet Nam debacle.

Obama doesn't want to be President a day longer than he is required to.

Frankly, I think the novelty has completely worn off. He's powerless now, and trying to salvage a legacy. I suspect he's been phoning it in for quite awhile now. Not that the Golfer In Chief was ever a model of work ethic in office.

I suspect that when he's gone, very few people will give him the time of day, and he knows it. He may actually prefer it. He will shoot 200 rounds of golf a year for the next few decades, have a ghostwriter write ANOTHER memoir in there at some point, do a speech now and then.

Not only he sets up the "Obama Global Initiative" and tries to go that route will we see much of him.

That, and he will NOT be the President to shut up about criticizing his successors.

    Somewhere over the rainbow
INGO needs some new blood in these political threads.

This seems like an argument that has appeared on INGO at least 25 times already. With predictable responses and outcomes.

Gonna see what's playing on TOS.

I would bet there's more to that story. Like the racial part.

    https://news.usni.org/2013/04/15/document-an-admirals-downfall

Page 24 is where I stopped as 23-24 make it fairly clear. The email sent to white officers and the comment about minority officers bringing down the quality of naval officers is probably the bigger issue than the profanity.

No no doubt on that. The Navy is pretty harsh on their leadership when they get out of line on "people" matters. It was probably kind of a "pile-on" charge.

A USNA Superintendant was relieved and retired a few years back, in part, for being abusive to a gate guard on an ID check. IIRC, the admiral had been "out on the town" and didn't like being asked for ID on returning to the Yard.

Not that the Golfer In Chief was ever a model of work ethic in office.

Really? THIS is from 2014, but the raw numbers are still pretty clear.

{quote]I suspect that when he's gone, very few people will give him the time of day, and he knows it. He may actually prefer it. He will shoot 200 rounds of golf a year for the next few decades, have a ghostwriter write ANOTHER memoir in there at some point, do a speech now and then.[/quote]

Yeah, wouldn't want him sitting around the house, just painting pictures...

...he will NOT be the President to shut up about criticizing his successors.

How often did Clinton criticize GHWB? How often did GWB criticize Clinton? There will be no criticism; that's part of the role of an ex-President.

However, someone criticized GHWB's actions, and it might surprise you...
