Maybe it was just me but it wasn't as bad as last night in the rail yard.

I put a space heater on a timer in front of my oil pan to run for two hours before I leave in the morning.

??? is this for the car???
vs having to run it every 6hrs for 20mins.

the drive out of chriaqi today was meh. light traffic.
lots of stalled/left behind cars on the side of the highway.
roads are clean.

Still cold with a chance snow today. Hope it will warm up this weekend.

As of right now I've got high 30's Saturday, 40's Sunday, and 56° for Monday. Thatll feel like almost 110° warmer than yesterday mornings wind chill. Chance of rain all three of those days though

Who's ready for burst pipes this weekend? 110°difference is going to be hell especially if you're on a slab foundation..

Been trying to keep the kids occupied and not fighting with each other. Been trying the cold weather science videos that have cropped up. Yesterday, I did the boiling water cloud (I've done that before but some of the littles had never seen it). Today is not as windy, so I was able to catch some bubbles and watch them freeze. Once the kids are down for a nap, gonna see if the wife wants to help me recreate a video from a different website.

I'm on a slab.

I've got my water shut off in the garage.
The heat trace there is cycling on/off, so I know I'm not frozen there.
Plus the valve shut.

So I must be froze in the laundry room.
I put a small electric heater in there, under the sink.

That's why I shut the water off before going to work.

At least you're on top of it. It took a lot of luck to make it almost 10 years owning a house before learning that frozen pipes were a very real thing. I got lucky it was in the garage.. I learned a very valuable lesson too... I'm not a plumber... same pipe leaked a month later and went through the wall and flooded an entire wing of my house. Plumber cost $300. Fixing the damage...

They just cancelled school for the city of Hobart. Apparently they cannot get the buses to start and what ones do start will not stay running.
