    I have several with both.
Does the red dot cover the laser dot?

Specifically at self defense distances. I have a green laser on my new Hellcat, not sure if an optic would be dead weight or useful for a personal defense weapon if there is already a laser installed. Assuming short distances and rapid deployment for typical self defense shootings I think the optic might be useless if the laser is used? Am I wrong?

The laser should be under the red dot, generally used in conjunction with a light. No reason to use during the day. But I'm at the point where I think the red dot actually slows me down. Takes longer to acquire the red dot than the sights. I think I'm going to be pulling my red dots off of everything I have that does not have suppressor height sights. I'm definitely keeping the light/lasers.

How long does it take to turn on the laser in comparison to how much the red dot slows you down? They both should be very short periods of time.

Dots and white lights with laser. The dot is for general sighting. You can't always pick up the laser in the daytime so for me,.....in the dark,....the laser designates POI somewhere in the flood of white light. In the dark,....with light AND laser,....you don't need the sights at all, but it's a niche thing.

I want a light on my pistol if I can swing it. If it's got a light, I like having the laser. The two together allow me to get completely outside of the gun which I think can be an advantage in HD.

I should have read this more closely and I could have just said "+1".

Except for pulling the dots off because they slow me down. I've got Holosuns with the ACSS retcle on every gun that can mount one and that reticle is as fast as irons with the additional benefits of the dot. The only exceptions are my two Shields that have 6MOA dots because Primary Arms hasn't put the ACSS reticle in the 507K yet,......507C and 509 only so far. You don't have to search for the dot with the ACSS.
