    Is this a recent revelation?
No, but they're playing considerably less musical content (WBAA Purdue), and more and more woke fairytales about various protected/preferred groups. No pretense whatsoever at balance. The antithesis of what public radio was supposed to be. And the music is increasingly mediocre. Bleah.

I listen almost every morning. The enemy will tell you their plans if you let them. But that’s not good for my blood pressure.
I used to work in a photo lab (late 80's) dark room, the only option to repetitious music, was NPR radio, I listened til Noon, then "Talent on loan from God" came on...it made listening to lefty drivel bearable, knowing there was light at the end of the tunnel.....Spencer Rifle, I agree, as Michael Bane says 'If someone SAYS they want to kill you....they do".....
