From what I hear... the best washer/dryers are SIMPLE.
    Without all the added 'crap'.

    ...

I think I bought the cheapest washer, or close to it, that Menard's had, and it's been running perfect for at least 10 years. Had to clean out the supply hose screens in the ends where it attaches to the spiggots, but so far, so good. When it breaks, I'll haul it to the scrappers and spend another $300 or whatever.

Yep, without all the electronic crapola. AND, how many front loading buckets have you seen? I heard women like front
loaders though because their bra straps don't get all tangled around an agitator.

They can put the bra in a "intimates" bag then.

    Front loaders just add problems.
What are u guys/gals washing that causes issues with front loaders.

jedi bought LG front load washer back in 2006 that is still working at the kids house.

Both another LG front loader washer for the house jedi got 3 years ago no issues so far.

yes, if you look, you will find people that have good stories.

I have a good story also.
    1994.
That's how long my stuff has been running.

But, that's just an individual story.

Look at consumer reports and such, that look at data.
    It's like a car.
You can have a higher percentage of people hating their car, but you will still find individuals who will say it hasn't broke yet.
    But the odds..

    ????

R u seeing signed with "ramp to close" and then in much smaller text "10/27/2023" or " 10/26 or so"
    Etc...

jedi has begun seeing these with dates vs just closed.
Nope, alternating messages. RAMP TO CLOSED and the second thing is a date range. 'closed' would work, 'to close' would work but nooooooo.

It may also have to do with Preventive maintenance.

Front loaders need to be dried out after you are done or else the gasket begins to mold/cracks.

They also need to be cleaned every 30 loads or once a month. Drain the front "basket", clean out the "basket" of any debri, hair, etc..

Every 6 months inspect and clean the back hose. It's all on the manual which jedi did at the kids house and still does at the current house.

Doing that jedi suspects have kept them running ok. Maybe others are not doing these PM.

jedi also uses just vinegar 6% for the "soap" and distilled vinegar 5% for the fabric softener. U sure if this has helped or not.

The one at the kids house used tie pods and downy.

I know it's unobtanium right now, but if anyone sees non-toxic .410 shells within a somewhat reasonable radius, please let me know. My wife's uncle and I are taking my kids out for the youth waterfowl weekend and my pump guns are too long and/or heavy for a couple of them.

    Part guy likes me. (highland)
But, I haven't replaced that much.

He says people repair the new stuff like crazy.
I have lovely simple washer/dryer/dishwasher. No fancy settings, very basic. They are plenty for me.

Our washer drains into a drainpipe, not the sink. Drain pipe comes out of the wall, bends up, and has an open end about level with top of washer. Washer drain hose has a hook on the end that hooks over drain pipe. Weird setup.

I've heard some people put pantyhose on the washer offtake.

But you have to be careful, because if it gets too plugged, it will break and put all that crap in the drain.

Ours are almost that old as well.

You have to let it dry to keep the washer from stinking to high heaven. Borax in the wash helps keep any smell from starting as well.

$1400 Samsung dryer and every time I dried sheets or blankets, I had to do them one at a time and stop the dryer 4-5 times during the cycle to un-ball the stuff. What a PITA.
