As a project for a training course I am taking in CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Drafting/Computer Aided Machining) I need to CNC a mold for injection molding. I am the true definition of a gun-nut so I want to have this some-what gun related. But for the life of me I can't come up with anything good to make.

Any ideas? It doesn't have to be gun related, anything camping, outdoors, or even survival related may also work.

Throw out your ideas and if I choose your idea, I'll send you a free one if you'd like!

    Maximum Outside mold dimensions are 6" x 6" x "3 tall

a small ice cube tray .... ice cubes shaped like a 223 (or whatever caliber) round

    would be simple and unique

you can sprue gate directly onto the middle of the part to maximize the part dimensions inside your core/cavity blocks ... as well as good mold flow characteristics .... don't forget your parting line vents!

    ps, you a VU student?

    Snap caps.

This is what I suggest too!

    Inert training rounds in 5.56x45mm, 7.62x39mm, .45ACP, 9mm, etc.

It'll be tricky getting the mold the right size for the finished product to be dimensionally correct after the polymer you choose hardens and cools.
