Yet another example of how the Medical Profession is trampling on our right to life!!!
I doubt if this as an "isolated incident".
It happens far to often in this Nation.
It's time we got rid of these callous, uncaring, money grubbing, killers.

Another example of the breakdown of our healthcare system. Healthcare is becoming too routine with no actual healing anymore Doctors care more about shoving pills in your face and getting you out door than actual healing you. Lucky for her, she woke up.

I have personal experiences with Doctors killing off life prematurely, prescribing drugs to people like replacing every part of the car before you know what's wrong, and turning them away because they don't have all insurance info in place.

This is no suprise to me, and shouldn't be to anyone. Unless you have cancer or some other horribly debilitating disease that they can barely keep you alive to suck your bank accounts dry, they will kill you and harvest your goodies! I believe they call it job security.

This is what they do all of the time in China.. They actually have trucks that travel to sick people to harvest the organs.

Errors happen. In our profession they have the potential to be serious. Sorry, we don't all have desk jobs where mistakes just cost dollars and headches. This isn't a sign of the healthcare system failing or doctors being butchers. It's evidence of a mistake.

Remember the case of the Mexican child citizen who got a double lung transplant at Duke, but received the wrong blood type? There was a huge issue with her even getting it in the first place as a non-citizen, then they impanted organs that her body immediately rejected due to the clerical error. We're human, mistakes happen.

In the St. Josephs emergency room, doctors performed toxicology tests and determined Burns was suffering from a multidrug overdose, according to the report. She was unresponsive and put on a ventilator.
Poison control specialists recommended using activated charcoal to stop Burns' body from absorbing the drugs, but it never happened, according to the report. Doctors couldn't get the tubes into her body. As a result, the HHS report concluded, it's possible Burns continued to absorb the pills she'd ingested, but doctors never did more toxicology testing to find out.

This is a giant load of BS. Activated charcoal does nothing for these overdoses, especially if started more than an hour after ingestion. Tox people ALWAYS suggest charcoal in overdoses despite no evidence it would help.

No doubt these individual doctors will be sued for all they're worth. Unlike other protected professions, doctors are responsible for covering their own screwups and have to pay for their own insurance to cover potential screwups. They, unlike others, actually have skin in the game. These guys will have to bear the responsibility for their screwups. Wish that was true of some other professions.

A question though is, what harm was caused here to warrant a financial payment? She tried to kill herself, nearly succeeded but was resuscitated. Then they thought she was brain-dead, turns out she was more functional then they thought. She almost was harvested but wasn't. I know it happened in 2009, but where's the harm here?

edit: hey, I can't "like" posts anymore!

Just wait until Obamacare is in full swing. When millions of people are suddenly injected into the healthcare system, while those "callous, uncaring, money grubbing, killers" are forced to work for less, what kind of healthcare do you think will result? Those same doctors are the ones who managed to get through college with top grades, make it through medical school and residencies, put in ungodly hours for very little pay for years ... to become slaves of hospitals and the government? I think that many of them are smart enough to either figure out how to game the system or get out and do something else with their intelligence.

Yes, there are bad apples in all disciplines, occupations and professions, and people make mistakes. But just wait until the good ones leave medicine and the vacuum is filled with foreign-trained doctors whose names you can't pronounce. It's coming, people ...

You make it sound as though these patients are looking for something more than Xanax, Percocet, Lortab, Vicodin, etc, etc.

How can doctors "heal" when patients are obese, smoking, and diabetic who do nothing to lose weight, stop smoking, or control their blood sugar? A patient has far more control their healing than a regular doctor's appointment and prescription will do. You can't fix what a patient isn't trying to fix themselves.

a lot of doctors (actually most i encounter) are like the stereotypical cop...they think they know everything, treat others like crap, think their poo doesn't stink and can't admit a mistake. And doctors kill far more people than cops every year. i cant wait to get in on more doc-bashing threads.
