Well I'm one of those very rare All The Gear, All The Time guys so I'd rather see people wear Joe Rocket than nothing at all. But given the option, I believe there are more protective options at a similar price. But opinions on gear are like a$$ho!3$ and everyone has one, I'll pay for better designs and higher quality. I understand most don't/won't. So if the option is Joe Rocket or nothing, I endorse Joe Rocket but much of it doesn't appear to meet any actual safety standards.

On a budget, FirstGear is amazingly well designed and uses good material.

I do not understand that comment. It was a comfortable jacket for 10's of thousands of miles, and it protected me in a high speed fall. What more could one ask of any riding gear, especially a lower price item? I have an Aerostich one piece suit that was a bunch more money, but other than early spring and late fall, is way too hot for any 10 hour day on the road. A track day would be a better use for the suit. A suit that is tied to the back of the seat because it is too uncomfortable does not work.

Something else about safety gear, many insurance policies will pay to replace your personal safety gear after any reported accident. My insurance replaced my Helmet, Jacket, riding gloves, and boots, with no deductable and no depreciation. I did not even know they did that until I spoke with the insurance adjuster about my totaled bike.

Some of the manufacturers will also replace their own gear, but within some limits.

To my mind the key is to wear safety gear. Be it low end Joe Rocket or premium Rev'it, Klim, Dianese, etc.

I have no use for helmet laws or gear laws that restrict riders who don't want to wear this stuff, I believe in ride your own ride, but for my rides, long and short, I am an ATGATT guy.

$46 grocery run at Kroger Sunday after Church.
lots of room under the seat.
    Watermelon on bump between legs.
Cargo nets worth their weight in gold, haha!
Getting ready to go to Walmart for a Pharmacy run for the wife, then on to the range to try out a new gun. :rockwoot:

I never stopped to gander at it. I thought it looked nice but the Beamer is way classier and will probably hand the HD it's walking papers since it is a GT.

This is on the fake tank and pizza box.

So far I like it, did a single carb conversion, new tires, removed the CB and trying to get a radio working.

I've had a motorcycle most of my life and starred riding around the country baling hay on BSA 250cc one-lung thumper when I was around 13-14 years old.

I'm on my 4th Goldwing, started with a 78, then an 81, then an 85 LTD and currently on my 89. The 85 LTD had 185k on it when I sold it because it was hard to find parts for. The 89 has around 155k and still running strong.

Ngl, I don't do the wavey thing to scooters, Slingshots, or Spyders lol

I will however, make an exception for children because they get a kick out of it, and that includes bicycles

I only initiate waving to riders with safety gear - that really, really limits it.

I'll return a wave; which got terribly annoying one ride - seemed like every five minutes I was waving a weekend warrior (and old lady) on their Harvey Diddleson.

Seen this gent on a sport bike, sitting in a parking lot coming into btown this afternoon. Pardon the poor pic, from my moving car.

Guy looks like he has a strap around his head for his eye pro. A little weak on the flip flops and shorts though, eh? ;)

Vetter and Honda, that was the combination back in the day. That gave birth to the whole touring end of the industry. You have a really nice survivor. That double bucket saddle looks like it is good for miles upon miles.
What..Touring started here in earnest with the 1941 HD FL and expanded rapidly with the 1965 FL 74ci Pan Electra Glide then into the Shovels.
First worthy Sport Tour was the 1977 BMW R100RS.
