How many freakin' hot dogs was this guy selling in order to pay the "rent" on a piece of sidewalk?

NYC hot dog vendor evicted over whopping rent bill

Sat Aug 8, 3:42 pm ET
NEW YORK – Homeowners aren't the only ones in hot water over overpriced real estate. A New York City hot dog vendor has been evicted from his prize spot outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art because he couldn't pay a whopping rent bill of nearly $54,000 a month.
Snack cart owner Pasang Sherpa of Queens had a deal with the city's parks department that required him to pay almost $643,000 per year for the vending rights near the museum steps.
He says he was $310,000 behind on his payments when he was evicted.
The Parks Department had auctioned off the rights to the spot last year.

Wow he would have to do $1800 a day just to pay his rent, that does not include his inventory. I would guess Average sale would be $7.50 on the high side Dog, Chips, Pop.

So figure cost on that at $2.00 so he is making $5.50 on each sale after product cost. In order just to pay the rent he would have to have 327.2 sales a day. I can't picture that.

That's just obscenely outrageous that he's being charged that much for a piece of sidewalk. I'd definitely be trying to find somewhere else. There is no way a hot dog vendor could make that much anywhere.

That's just crazy, I honestly had no idea that food vendors like that had to pay rent, let alone the insanity of the prices! New York sucks big time, how can anyone make a living with taxes ("rent") that high?

That is exactly what happens in liberal areas, just look at CA.
