Divers for a TV documentary first spotted the piece in March while looking for wreckage of a World War II plane.

The NASA manager in charge of the remains of both lost space shuttles said it's one of the biggest pieces of Challenger ever found in the decades since the accident.

GFGT that is exactly what I was thinking when I read the thread title.

I was about a week from going to Basic Training, a few days left at Smith Cabinet (later known as Child Craft) in Salem. I was driving home for lunch, heard it on WQMF. Would've been between 1145 and Noon.

It is cool to see. That entire complex is neat to see.

The shuttles are a lot smaller then I remember when I was a kid. I remember a tour when we drove next to one on a crawler all hooked up and ready to go and it looked huge. That had to be very cozy for 6, 7 or 8 people. Can not remember exactly how many would go up.
