There is actually a LOT to this post. I remember starting out with a really wimpy bb gun and I swear to this day my understanding of bullet drop and windage is based on the fact I could watch that bb leave the barrel and go places. Drop with distance, sway with wind... With a 22, there is a bang and then a hole in the target, you have to imagine everything in the middle.I started my kids on a vintage Daisy Red Rider and aluminum cans. Then on to a Crickett .22. Now they both have their own handgun and AR. The AR would be good if you can get it collapsed enough and a good rest. Getting them started early on the AR platform is never a bad thing.
