Single shot and .45-70.....id go Ruger #1S. Unfortunately i dislike big rimmed cartridges ( aesthetic ) so would opt for a .460 smith or .44 mag.

just textd a bud about how cool a #1A in 6.5 grendel.would be.

My father said he'd like one in 44mag or 30-30
    I'm set for 44mag. I've always wanted a 45/70.

I gotta get off my azz and figure out what to do about my #3. My dads old #1 is beat to heck but shoots .75 w factory Norma .22 -250 and its bone stock. No forend work, triggrr job, nuthin. So guess ill leave that one as is. Its not great but entirely usable for yotes IMHO

Ruger only makes 3 calibers a year with No1 rifles. Never know when they will get out a 45/70 again.

Used they are often for sale. That redpad doesnt do much to tame the smack. They did the 1S w 22" bbl which I think looks fantastic. The .460.and .44 stuff is shorter and doesnt look as good.
There was a run of longer bbl .45 -70 but I forget what designation those had.
