I'm not sure what you're talking about. We've been pretty damned "reserved" about Iranian involvement in the violence in Iraq, including sending their special operations troops into Iraq - where they've been captured. Neither we nor the Iraqis have shelled the Iranians or put their captured soldiers on trial. And this after possessing definitive evidence that the Iranians have been supplying IED materials to Iraqi insurgents which materials have been directly responsible for causing not only US/Coalition military casualties, but thousands of civilian casualties as well.

Personally, I think we've been TOO damned "reserved."

NATO's International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan said in a statement: "The UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) to which the Iranians are referring may be a U.S. unarmed reconnaissance aircraft that had been flying a mission over western Afghanistan late last week.

How could it be accidental?
It's not like the US and Iran share a common border and the guy piloting the drone went left a bit too much and ended up in another country.

If a Chinese drone was shot down over the US we would never hear people saying that maybe it was accidental.

How could it be accidental?

According to the article, the drone was operating over western Afghanistan when the operators lost control of it. It could have flown off course and wandered into Iranian airspace after contact was lost.

Maybe the drone became self aware and tried to start the days of the terminator with a preemtive strike on Iran. This is not the first drone to cause problems. Remember TR425??
