Good for Iran. We certainly wouldn't be so "reserved" if the reverse had occurred.

I'm no fan of Iran, but every nation has the right to defend their sovereign airspace. Do you not think we'd shoot down a Syrian surveillance drone if it invaded our airspace? Sometimes a little perspective helps clear things up.

I'm not sure what you're talking about. We've been pretty damned "reserved" about Iranian involvement in the violence in Iraq, including sending their special operations troops into Iraq - where they've been captured. Neither we nor the Iraqis have shelled the Iranians or put their captured soldiers on trial. And this after possessing definitive evidence that the Iranians have been supplying IED materials to Iraqi insurgents which materials have been directly responsible for causing not only US/Coalition military casualties, but thousands of civilian casualties as well.

Personally, I think we've been TOO damned "reserved."

The bigger question is why an American drone was violating their airspace.
Could've been accidental. U.S. official says no sign Iran shot down drone | Reuters
NATO's International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan said in a statement: "The UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) to which the Iranians are referring may be a U.S. unarmed reconnaissance aircraft that had been flying a mission over western Afghanistan late last week.

"The operators of the UAV lost control of the aircraft and had been working to determine its status."

Well, if this is the start of WWIII, then I hope, IMO, that we are invaded by ground forces than bombed by nuclear warheads. That way, we all could put our guns to use :)
