Found this article on another forum that I'm a member of thought it was n interesting read.
NOTE: I most definitely do not agree with everything in the article. I find it, at best, leaning to the left. But I still think it a worthwhile article to read.
And for those who get turned off in the first quarter of the article read it all the way through because the authors opinion changes as the article goes on.

Cool, thanks for sharing. One thing that stood out for me...

    "I was in Condition
Yellow and fully aware of two scruffy guys
lounging in a doorway up ahead.“Can you help
us out?” one asked. I made my usual demurral
and walked on. When I got about fifteen feet
    away, one of them yelled,“******!”
I’ve never been one to throw down because
someone called me a name. But it’s possible
that in the old days I’d have yelled something
back. At the very least, I’d have felt my blood
    pressure spike.
This time, I didn’t become angry or even an-
noyed. A Zen-like calm overtook me. I felt no need
to restrain myself; my body didn’t even gesture in
the direction of anger. Pace Claudio, my hand
meant nothing to my sword. Rage wasn’t an op-
tion, because I had no way of knowing where it
would end, and somehow my brain and body
sensed that. I began to understand why we don’t
hear a lot of stories about legal gun carriers kill-
ing one another in road-rage incidents. Carrying
a gun gives you a sense of guardianship, even a
kind of moral superiority. You are the vigilant
one, the sheepdog watching the lock, the coiled
wrath of God. To snatch out your gun and wave
it around would not only invite catastrophe but
also sacrifice that righteous high ground and
embarrass you in the worst possible way."

I understand that feeling totally. Carrying HAS made me more aware of my temper, and actually given me more control over it...

I carry with the same feeling. I figure that I've also got the weight of millions of law-abiding gun owners on my belt and that I don't want to do anything that would give the anti-gun crowd any ammo.

Plus, I also don't ever want to be the topic of an INGO "Look at what this idiot did" type thread. :D

There is more than one way to look at the old catch-phrase "An armed society is a polite society." There are many things about carrying that all play into it...not the least among them is the idea you're conveying here. It's excellent to hear. :twocents:
