That's a cool idea. I did not know they did that.

Thanks, Swom. You must be very proud.:)
We just started it this week. A different area each week, Thursdays are formation runs anyway so might as well get to run in the neighborhoods they will serve. I typically run with them, it's always a 5k. It was an easy run yesterday but HOT. I wore my camelback so that helped a lot. We had plenty of water for the recruits as well. We ran the 38th/Meridian area, it's rough out there. The number of locals that came out to wave was enough to make me smile the entire time. Even in this downtrodden area, it reminds the recruits (and the rest of us) that we still have a lot of support. Good time.

I hadn't really spoken with my son regarding where they ran. I knew they were running the 5k or so each Thursday but in the back of my mind I just assumed they just started and stopped at the academy location. Definitely a great idea getting them out to start to see the neighborhoods first hand. Even with all the negativity going on over the past few weeks, the son is still very excited about being in the academy.

Thank you for your service and more selfishly, thank you for keeping my son safe through this journey!

Apologies to those that don't have facebook (I assume this won't load for you?)

Anyways, proud of my son and the other recruits in the latest recruit IMPD class. Trying not to single him out but he's one of the ones in the yellow vests.

Congrats Swom! When our oldest son graduated from the Academy it was one of the proudest moments of my life. LE is a tough job now a days. I tell my son every time I see, watch your back. He responds I know dad. And I respond that I will tell him that until the day they put me 6' under.

You'll be able to easily spot Denny in the group. When they call cadence Denny gives the response first all out of step and with a triumphant tone as if he's playing trivia pursuit.
