I'd be a moron to turn it in and walk away. Glad I like driving it. I can think of better cars, but not at the prices we are looking at today.

I had an offer of $17K for my 21 year old Ford Excursion. I nearly pulled the trigger until the wife stepped in, thankful she did. What would I replace it with. Everything out there is stupid money.

It like our house. I would love to sell it for double what I paid but what is there to buy. A $150K house for $300K. No thanks.

I wish the market would start to improve. I'd like to have a new(er) truck but I refuse to pay these prices. My current truck just turned 100k miles a couple weeks ago. The truck was literally perfect until 98k miles, the trans decided it was done. Now I'm hearing the beginning stages of a wheel bearing meeting it's demise also the PS pump whine when cold. Anywho, just normal wear and tear stuff bound to start needing to be fixed which is better paying the current pricing.

I'm also thinking of downsizing from a fullsize to midsize on the next truck to save a few bucks. 95% of the time a midsize would be just fine for me. The other 5% I'd have to improvise.

We were looking for a Toyota sienna for us. Can't find one that's not over 20k with under 100k miles. That's just insane money to me

This has worked several times for me.

I just ran mine through KBB. 2019 Subaru Forester. Paid just under $30K in late 2018. Private sale was $25K-$28K. I would not consider getting rid of it. Perfect car for me and I actually like the newer ones less.

I got lucky. I sold my 09’ GTI with 117k miles on it for about $500 more than I paid for it 2 years ago. I put a little money into it and drove it for two years and enjoyed it but I’m getting to the point where I need a bit more comfort and technology. The car also was going to need a rear main seal soon so I posted it up just to see what happens. I wish I would have posted it for $1000 more really. Car sold in a few days.
I was looking for an Audi A6 TDI but just stumbled across an A6 Competition Prestige that was loaded and hadn’t made it to the lot yet. I got a pretty decent deal on it and it has everything I wanted, and more, for my replacement car. It came with a service agreement from previous owner and I bought an extended warranty that covers most mechanical/electrical issues.
Here’s a picture of them both in my driveway before I delivered the GTI.

I'm very glad that we replaced the sedan 3 years ago.

The flip side: Our van is going to be on its last legs any time now. 2009 Kia Sedona with 178k miles. It's got some minor evap codes + some O2 sensor codes, I think. If I can, I think I'll inquire about how much it'll cost to get the sensors replaced. Hopefully not toooo expensive. Other than it having a nice dent in a door (Thanks, hit & run driver @ Kohl's)... that van has been rock freaking solid for us since 2011. And it was a rental before that...

And the valve cover gaskets could use replacing... But I really don't want to think about how much that'll cost me.

If cars keep drying up, we are going to be driving cars like in MAD MAX movies.

I have had people come up to me in a coffee shop wanting to buy my car. That has never happened with a stock sedan before.

We need a recession. Hate to say it. Seems every time the government steps in to stop it, they make it worse. Let's just get this over with.

I just checked my wife's van on KBB bought about a year ago and put on 6k miles on it. Trade in value is about 7-8k more than what we paid. Private party is 10k.

Bought my 2008 M3 in Sept 2019 for $19,500, Blue Book was about $22-$23k at the time. Good deal. 2.5yrs and 12k miles later and it would not go for less than $27-$30k now.

Prices are kinda insane. That being said, I didn't want to wait anymore, so I just bought a slightly used truck to be my primary vehicle. I kept the old truck for teenager use. I will probably sell it when half of my current, resident teenagers goes off to college in the fall.

I got what I wanted and could pay the price, so there was no use crying about what I could have bought it for in 2020. I have no time machine.

We've had dealers, not just the one we purchased from, contact us about the Mrs.'s ride, and they've offered up to $10K more than we paid in 2019. And give us a guaranteed price on a new one, that's just slightly more than we paid for ours used, 3 years ago. Not going to do it, because the trim level isn't the same, and we've got ours paid way down.

Besides... it won't matter, everyone will be forced to buy a new EV before long.:p

Paid 35K for my 'Vette ('12 Convertible Grand Sport 3LT, 6-speed) in Sept. 19, they're now going for 39K+ with more mileage on them. And that's for autos, manuals are gowing for even more.

If I didn't love driving it so much, I'd sell for a nice profit. But I know I'd regret it later.
