How Guns Get in Movies, The Economist

As everyone in the gun culture knows, movies sell guns, but just how do the guns get there?

We at INGO have a member in the business of show (movies and television) and it is my understanding that the Technical Advisor has a lot of say.

The Economist has an article on it and the different routes guns get into movies.

Thanks for posting this Kirk....

I know the few films I was in we were paid an extra $100 to $200 above the other extras for providing our own firearms...If you fired your flintlock you got a $25 "powder allowance".......

I like The Economist, but the following is why they should STICK TO THEIR LANE;

"which narrates a SEAL counter-insurgency mission in Afghanistan, allegedly received $250,000 from Beretta for a product placement deal. He states that they replaced all existent handguns with their own .45s model; in reality, the SEALs would have carried Sig Sauer p226 and Kimber 1911s."

Replaced with BERETTA??? .45 model, what model, looked like 92's (M9's) to me.

And then our .mil small arms experts explains that the correct sidearm would have been 226 (OK less angry) or KIMBER 1911...WTF. East coast MEU SOC (USMC) did issue Kimbers briefly and I may or may not have seen a few "Tuned" 1911's, but someone has to tell Kimber they missed a UUUGE marketing opportunity to put Tridents on their 1911's.

I now apologize for the rant, but I hate uneducated opinions by "experts"
