Yup, and it's just not your pets, I know several people who's had to drop a grand or more in their furry friends lately.

Plus, it's a franken piston AR (sorry, but it kind of is). It just takes a special person to buy a piston AR, and an educated person to know what they're looking at.

Some people think AR means it has to be cheap, and they see no reason to buy a used AR for $900 when they can build a new one for $600 give or take. Quality or parts and some parts not being equal in quality doesn't blip with some people.

Might have better luck selling the upper and lower separately. Or just wait, never know, someone out there might be gathering up funds, trying to sell a couple things they don't really need to fund your AR.

I sold a rifle recently and picked up a killer Weber Grill in place of it. I'm going out today to get some exterior paint and some lights for the patio. With all the hoopla and craziness I'm going to invest in some quality good times around the grill and nascar races this year.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still vested in the shooting sport but plan to spend less time at it this year till things settle in. No shortage of primers, powder and anything of the sort but it's time to give it a rest. Unless a unstoppable deal on a firearm appears I don't see myself jumping towards it.

Now, who's got a great deal on a Browning Hi-power ? LOL

My neighbor just did a PSA kit with a blemish lower for $470 with the FFL on the lower. It's a PTAC but it's his first gun so he's happy.

i showed him the classifieds here but he thought it all too expensive compared to the PSA...

I've got a PSA blem complete rifle (I have to build the lower) with a Midwest Industries free-float rail and CMV CL barrel on the way shipped to my FFL for $600. PSA's deals are good right now which makes selling used weapons a buyers' market.

I am not buying anything right now either. Safe is full and I am happy with the current AR selection.

It is a buyers market. That was inevitable after the scare. All the money went by the way of the carpet baggers.

Like others have said, it's a buyers market. Many people called it during the hype of the AWB hubbub and now it's finally here. I honestly might be in the market for a Sig556 later this summer. Hope the market stays in my favor.

If you think the firearms market is bad. Check out how long some houses have been sitting on the market. Add to the fact people are either outright losing their health care, or else are experiencing major benefit reductions at increased prices, and there is little money available for toys these days.

The wife and I are moving to Texas, and houses are literally selling within days of being posted down there. We went to an open house and there were 20+ people looking at it.

My business, a decade old, deals with expendable income so I can feel the ground rumbling, if you will. When people are ready to part ways with their hard earned income, we're slammed with new business and referrals and when people are uncertain we rely on our very loyal consistent first generation families.

    A few things...
    1) The insurance policy I have on my family went up 30%. $300 a month increase, which is what many have probably also experienced takes a bite out of budgets - saving, building wealth, spending/enjoying.
    2) I paid a lot more in taxes in 2013. So I understand that refunds were smaller because many of us had higher bills (which we get nothing for).
    3) Business owners, of which I'm one have already paid 1st Q 2014 taxes. 2013 was high, but 2014 is ludicrous.

Just a few examples of the squeeze that increased government puts on the back of Americans.

I routinely look at the classifieds, even when I'm not really in the market for anything. Clearly, buyers rule the day now.

But, I remember back during the last scare, there was someone who had interesting graphs tracking AR prices. Anyone know what happened to that? I thought that was a neat "leading economic indicator" type metric.

Health care is going to be the largest deterrent to a healthy economy in this country. It already is. My health care premiums went up over 40% this year, and my out of pocket expenses and deductibles have gone completely through the roof. Health care costs are going to comprise as much as 30% of peoples incomes in the next few years, no matter if they like it or not. This is what happens when you, "Spread the wealth around". You have to spread the cost around first. What the socialists don't / won't tell you is someone has to pay for the deadbeats, or as they like to put it, "The less fortunate". As Margaret Thatcher so eloquently put it: "The problem with socialism is sooner or later you run out of other peoples money". Welcome to the world of Obama. Enjoy.
