Separating this out from the discussion of the tragedy itself because it's slightly different.

Ok, the traditional media hasn't picked it up yet but the blogosphere has done the research and concluded that this James E Holmes is a member of the Occupy Wall Street movement's Occupy Black Bloc - their militant wing. Correct me if I'm wrong but we have some of these OBB knuckleheads in custody in Chicago.

So basically what we have here is a liberal-generated domestically home grown terrorist organization operating in the US. They blend in, do things a little smarter than the average thug (i.e. body armor) and let's be honest - they are after body counts.

Does this change up what we carry and how we respond? How so? I'll be the first to admit I carried a 5 shot .357 for the longest time on the rationale that a mugging would rarely be more than 2 guys. However, this crazy stuff lately has me shopping for something new and looking to more and new training options.

I found 2 reports of this, both by conservative new media, and both considered it very dubious. Neither considers the sources valid that link him to the Occupy movement. Both are still looking for additional sources.

Political violence always comes from the Left.

We've had spates of anarachists/socialists/environmentalists committing acts of terrorism before and very recently.

We need to ensure that his committment to the Black Bloc is what motivated this. If so, you arrest the entire organization and put them in the Bureau of Prisons for a very long time.

I always try to have a handgun that has a "high" capacity and 2 spare magazines (so a typical load out of 42-45 rounds depending on what I am carrying), because of the possibility of something like this. Every once in a while I am forced to carry a J-frame...who knows though, maybe just returning fire at an active shooter would be enough to get them to leave or at least take cover giving you a chance to get the hell out of dodge:dunno:

He did not have body armor on.

Looks like he did. Even this poor excuse for a newspaper is reporting it.

The Kevlar helmet and neck and groin protectors police said Holmes wore during the shooting also are available on bulletproofme.com. Gas mask and military-grade tear gas, such as the one the suspect used inside the theater, can be found on various sites, including keepshooting.com and approvedgasmasks.com. There are no restrictions on their purchases.

Colorado suspect's arsenal easily available for purchase

Don't you think they would target someone other than innocent moviegoers?

    This guy was insane!

Is that not the MO of terrorists? To target the innocent.

The anarchists, the SDS, the Weathermen, the Black Liberation Army, environmentalists, Leftists of various stripes, etc. all targeted the innocent.

    This guy was insane!

From YOUR perspective, perhaps not from his.

    We shall see.

So what conspiracy do you come up with for the Virginia tech massacre?

Just because some madman belonged to an leftist group doesn't mean they conspired to kill innocent civilians.

I would imagine if this was a conspiracy that there would have been more than one shooter, maximize the carnage.

Is that not the MO of terrorists?

This certainly is the MO of a madman, lone shooter that we have seen many times before.

please cite one case in which a domestic organization has planned and carried out a mass shooting.

Wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the possibility. Maybe this hasn't happened tin the US to date, but it has happened in other places around the world. And don't forget, OWS is looking at a very European model as their supposed goal (that is if you can pin down one who actually thinks he/she knows what OWS wants)

Think Irish Republican Army, Irish Liberation Front, Red Army Faction.

It's not much of a stretch in imagination to think that these may be models for an organization domestic to the US.

All these terrorist organization gleefully take credit for their actions.

This looks like the same lone gunman shooting that we have seen sooo many times before.

Spouting off conspiracy theories seems premature considering the history of mass shootings.

Indystar had references to tactical gear, and an AP article did not reference full body armor...contrary to earlier reports. Will find some links.

    Edit
A correction is needed. He wasn't in "full body armor", nor was he in the exact opposite, but did have some ballistics gear on him. To me there is a somewhat important difference. Drives me crazy when media will exaggerate a particular item in a story just to sensationalize it.
