US President Barack Obama President Barack Obama says he wants to visit the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki sometime during his presidency, but will not have time when he travels to Japan later this week.

In an interview with Japanese broadcaster NHK, Mr. Obama said he would be honored to have the opportunity to visit the two cities that were devastated by U.S. atomic bombs at the end of World War II.

If he does, Mr. Obama will be the first sitting U.S. president to visit Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Calls have grown in Japan for Mr. Obama to visit the two cities since his April speech in Prague envisioning a nuclear-free world and since he won the Nobel Peace Prize last month.

The mayors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki have invited Mr. Obama to visit the two cities before a United Nations review of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty next May.

The president is due to arrive in Tokyo on Friday to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama.

Bigum why r u mad about it?
    :dunno:

Well, I agree with bigum1969 :xmad:.

We know what obam will do.... "America is bad M'Kay"
Needless posturing and apologizing for evil America.

Yes, it killed about 90,000 Japanese.
BUT it ended the war. :twocents:
It probably saved hundreds of thousands MORE.
How many Japanese would have died with a prolonged invasion of Japan?
How many tens of thousands U.S. soldiers would have been slaughtered in that fight?

Because I'm not looking forward to our apologist-in-chief becoming a historical revisionist and once again using the world stage to re-write history.

Those two bombs saved hundreds of thousands of American lives IMHO.

Oh my. Here comes the annual national debate on our use of the Atom Bomb during WWII.

This "Tour" is just one more way to separate this country. He revels in tearing America apart. He'll probably appoligize for not having our Air Craft carriers stationed at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7th.

Yes, just think... that would have stopped our imperialistic aggression right there at Pearl Harbor!

    What do you expect??
Seriously... when his secretary of homeland defense turns her attention to reassuring an Arab audience that "anti-Muslim sentiment in America will not be tolerated"...instead of spending two seconds of attention on the victim's family members.
Here's another great Janet Napolitano quote:
“This was an individual who does not, obviously, represent the Muslim faith,” she said after meeting with a group of women university students. "
