My wife just bought me a dpms AR for christmas and was looking to upgrade the stock. Anyone have any complaints on the Magpul CTR stock? Does it really take the "wobble" out?

    Thanks!:patriot:

It absolutely does. However, my regular MOE stock doesn't have a ton of movement. So decide if you want to spend the extra $30 to take out a barely noticeable wobble.

I use a CTR stock on my SBR for the longest time. It is a great stock and really does take the wobble out of the stock. However, as it has been said, the MOE stock is much more affordable and I dont notice the difference when im shooting.

Buy a SOPMOD and get it over with :):

Quick gun porn that illustrates my stock choice.

I've got CTR's on 3 rifles and a UBR. I prefer the CTR to any other stock I've had an opportunity to try (I think I've tried them all).

gotta agree with phylodog above....I have had ctr's on all of my AR's and love em. They are very nice for the price, especially if you find em used on AR15.com. I wouldnt use any other stock unless it was a heavier rifle, then might explore other avenues.

    Yes it does.

I was skeptical at first, until I got one. All of my AR's, except my 12.5" SBR, wear a CTR stock.

Much better that the Vltor stock and worth the extra money.

The CTR's recently price dropped, so be aware they should be about $80 now. Some shops/web sites have not dropped their price as yet though.

    CTR® - Compact/Type Restricted

I recently picked one up at Bradis as I wanted the integrated QD sling mount.

It seems to have removed the wobble when the friction lock is engaged.

    I'll echo another :+1:

I put a MOE on my Shotgun and have a CTR on my AR.. there is a HUGE difference. When the CTR is locked its more like a fixed stock as far as how rigid it is. The MOE still wobbles

I prefer the CTR for short/light guns.

Not only is the friction lock an enhancement over the MOE, but it also has a built-in QD sling mount that I prefer.

Good point. It's frustrating to buy a commercial stock, to find out you need a Milspec.

The OP buffer tube should be a Commecial Spec. Especially if it's a Factory DPMS carbine. It's the same thing I have and the CTR is a great addition !
The guys at Bradis hooked me up with one the had in stock. Even put it on my carbine so I could shoulder it and see how it felt before I layed down the $
