Neighbors call owner of vacant house, tell them someone broke in and is squatting there. House owner goes over, confronts trespassers. One of the trespassers pulls a gun, house owner pulls his gun and shoots trespasser, not fatally. Linked article says they shot at each other, another article says trespasser had BB gun. Either way trespasser went to hospital.

Man breaks into the house through the garage, mom herds the kids into the bedroom and locked the door. Man tries to get into the bedroom, mom shot through the door. Police find man 100 yards away with gunshot wound to arm.
    Yay Mom!

    p.s.
"You don't have to give notice, if someone's breaking into your home you have the right to protect yourself and use deadly force, and you're not going to have any problem with the sheriff of Hidalgo County," [Sheriff] Guerra added in his comments.

this happened back in April but I don’t think I covered it in this thread.

51-year-old armed man who should know better than to break into a house in Texas broke into a house in Texas and was shot multiple times by the homeowner. Mr. Should’ve-known-better died from GSW.

Case referred to grand jury blah blah. In Texas if someone unlawfully enters your house with force you‘re presumed to have acted reasonably if you use deadly force to deal with him. “With force” can be as simple as opening a closed door or window.

Two guys wearing body armor bust down front door of a house about 2300, identify themselves as Houston police department. Man in house gets out of bed to see what ruckus is about, one of the “cops” starts shooting at him but inadvertently hits his partner, who drops his pistol.

Man picks up the pistol and starts shooting at the first guy, killing him. The wounded partner flees. Harris county deputies arrived to find a dead man wearing body armor who is not a cop laying in the front doorway. Cops on the lookout for the wounded partner.

Cops believe the house was targeted.

Group of women brought from California to Seattle by their pimp, housed in an million dollar Airbnb.

After beating her a few days earlier, Pimp orders her out of “his” clothes, beats and pistol whips her. She runs to the third floor of the house and jumps out a window. She probably broke a leg and hurt her back doing us but she ran to the street and tried to get a couple women in a car to take her away.

A couple of the other girls run out of the house and tell the ladies that stopped that the girl is off her meds and they’re gonna take her to the hospital. Instead they force her into the pimp’s vehicle and drive off to a motel where they ply their trade.

Pimp tells her he’s going to let her go but he’s gonna knock her teeth out first. She bails out of the car in her underwear and runs for a highway. Sits down topless in the middle of six lanes of cars whizzing by because that protects her from the pimp. Several people call 911, finally a rideshare driver stops and lets her in his van.

Pimp chases rideshare driver and shoots out his windshield. Rideshare driver shoots back! Unfortunately didn’t hit the pimp.

During shootout driver calls 911, meets police at a gas station. Cops go arrest pimp, multiple charges and $750,000 bail. Girl was taken to a hospital with injuries including black eyes, broken ribs, a broken leg and spinal injuries.

    So how was your day?

So far it sounds like self defense on the deputes part. Sad thst he did not respond to the command to drop his weapon.
I've seen many videos where this happens and think the person with the weapon is high, drunk, or doesn't understand the language spoken. I'm sure our law enforcement members can say or have an idea why people do not seem to respond in these situations, and end up getting shot.

As a LEO he may not have thought they were addressing him.

    Tunnel vision at he threat.

Believes officers are there to back him up and are commanding the other combatant.

Standing there waving his gun back and forth. (I suppose, covering the aggressive group)

Was he in uniform? Did the responding officers KNOW he was a LEO?

    Can't be.
I just watched Lightfoot explain crime is down and she's just being maligned.

Since the search function seems to be seriously broken and I can’t bring up this thread using Dgu, defensive gone used, or “defensive gun use”, I’m sticking what I hope is a unique word in the thread that I can search on and get back to it later.

    ETA: It works!
