It is my belief that it is never good for celebrities to politically choose sides unless they truly believe in what they are supporting. This will do nothing good for their career. It will only divide their fan base. I know many believe that even bad publicity is at least publicity, but when it comes to the music industry, this is not always true. I hope he thinks the sacrifice is worth it.

Years ago, I met him at a gig here in Indiana. I did sound for him and he seemed like a nice guy. I thought he had more intellegence than to do something like this. I guess he feels it is worth it or they're really paying him a ton of money. :twocents:

Anyone remember the Dixie twits? I never cared for him or his wife. Chris Ledoux there was a class act.

Tug McGraw does country music? :dunno:

    tug-mcgraw.jpg

well, kinda. He is/was Tim's father. (RIP) I met him once while in Germany. Tug and a bunch of retired Baseball players did a USO tour where they traveled around and played against community softball teams. There was a big luncheon and I was seated at a table with Tug McGraw and Bobby Bonds. Both were very cool. Tug was funny as hell. Cracking jokes and telling stories the whole time.

I don't understand why he would anger 85% of his listeners

Like the Dixie Chicks, he figures he has all the money he'll ever need. No reason to be concerned with backstabbing of those who put those dollars in his pocket. Tim and Faith really favor themselves as Hollywood types and obviously all the liberal BS that goes along with that.

Myself I don't listen to him or much of any modern country music, I'm more old school mountain bluegrass and country. Like Jimmy Martin, Nick ' Chinga ' Chavin, The Man in Black with some David Allen Coe and Sandy Patty tossed in.

There's some new(ish) guys with old sound. Take a listen to Sturgill Simpson. He's the best artist you can't hear on the radio. Apparently the labels thought he sounded too old fashioned so he just started his own label. No radio play for independents, but he's hit some variety shows and that's how I heard him.

Jamey Johnson gets some radio play, and is well worth checking out, too.

Signed - a barefoot hilljack who's first three album purchases ever were all Hank Jr.

I went through my rather small cd collection and found 1 Tim McGraw cd...it immediately went into the trash.

He is now on my "list" which isn't extremely long but includes Liam Neeson, Jim Carrey, and Jane Fonda.

    Here's some comedy for you...

Tim was one of the celebs featured on the show "Who do you think you are?". The opening of his show....him out shooting sporting clays or something on his big ass ranch.

Youtube is blocked here at work, but FF this clip to about 2min in...

We don't have to like what they say but we're all Americans. We all have to stand up and make sure they keep the right to say what they want.

Back in the '60s and '70s, while growing up, my dad used to say 'I may not agree with what they're saying, but I'd give my life for their right to say it'. You don't hear that much any more. I've never been a Tim McGraw fan and am unlikely to become one now that he is showing himself to be 'Hollywood Country'. But I respect his right to voice his opinion but I will voice my opinion by not buying his stuff.

I like Chris Janson, he plays the Opry a lot.

Never liked McGraw's music. Now I don't like him. As for Billy Currington, he sounds like a guy who doesn't know the roots of this fine art form. When he figured it out he waffled. I have even less respect for someone like that.
