Myself I don't listen to him or much of any modern country music, I'm more old school mountain bluegrass and country. Like Jimmy Martin, Nick ' Chinga ' Chavin, The Man in Black with some David Allen Coe and Sandy Patty tossed in.

It is my belief that it is never good for celebrities to politically choose sides unless they truly believe in what they are supporting. This will do nothing good for their career. It will only divide their fan base. I know many believe that even bad publicity is at least publicity, but when it comes to the music industry, this is not always true. I hope he thinks the sacrifice is worth it.

Years ago, I met him at a gig here in Indiana. I did sound for him and he seemed like a nice guy. I thought he had more intellegence than to do something like this. I guess he feels it is worth it or they're really paying him a ton of money. :twocents:

There's a difference between amending and wanting to take away rights.

I'm not familiar with the group McGraw is doing the concert for. I took a brief look at their website. What specific action or beliet makes them gun grabbers? I may have missed it.

See the bottom section of the Snopes article.
Apparently they're calling for mag limits, universal background checks and laws against straw purchases*.

    * Yeah, I know... they're obviously too lazy to look this up.

I see SHP is a PAC. In other words, they don't help anyone, they just want to enact laws and/or steer tax dollars.

EDIT: They have both a 501(C)3 Foundation and 501(C)4 PAC.

I don't see any connections to the heavy hitters of gun control. These guys seem to be bona fide grassroots.

As I saw commented elsewhere, he's about to "Dixie Chick" himself.

Thanks JettaKnight... I've been scratching my head wondering why people are calling them ant-gun. I could not find that info on their web sight, they must have it buried deep somewhere.

Thanks for the link. I edited my first two posts.

    1) Attempting to employ the favorite technique of using judges to obviate the unambiguous language of the Second Amendment most certainly is anti-American, even though it has become commonplace, sadly.
    2) You can no more repeal the Second Amendment than you can repeal the First. Or does anyone here honestly believe that an effort to do that wouldn't result in a justifiable repeat of 1776?
