    It is a good thing to test the soil pH. Most coffee grounds are about 6.9 pH, so adding them should not hurt anything. Leaves will make an alkaline compost, so you should not use them if you are trying to go more acid.

    Your right that it doesn't hurt anything but it takes time that could be used for.... oh I don't know, maybe shooting! :D

    Unless you get lots of oak leaves and they will add acidity. I usually spread some sulfur over the garden every couple years anyway which will help push the pH down. I also add some to my potato rows and of course a bit on the hot peppers make them hotter than hell.
