I haven’t gone back a ton in this thread to fully check but has the show “The Chosen” been discussed? Thinking of giving it a whirl after seeing some interviews with the producer and lead characters.

It's a discussion forum and I was interested in how others understand what they read.its how I learn.

Most Baptist I know spell out God and don't keep Jewish feasts. They wouldn't say they were Messianic Jews either.

And I can respect that.

Personally, as a Baptist, I would never call myself a Messianic Jew, nor would I refer to any Jew as brethren.
I do respect their religious beliefs the same as Mormons, Muslims, or any other non-Christian that forsakes Christ.
I.e. I do not hold Judaism in any higher place among other religions. Heck, most Jews I know aren't even religious - it's just a cultural identity.

Nor would I hold Israel to a higher place than any other of our nation's political allies. I fail to see how the modern political state of Israel has any strong resemblance to the OT nation of Israel.




I see lots of commandments and directives in the NT, but little directing me to protect a plot of land. Dare I go one step further and say there's no directive to maintain Judaism - what if every Jew accepted the Messiah and renounced the Mosaic codes, the Torah, all the rules, clothing, dietary restrictions and the need to maintain a pseudo-religious cultural identity and the need the for a Jewish state?

Did not Paul go first to the Jew then to the gentile? Was not Paul hoping to get every Jew to convert? And what if that happens? That would put some Pre-Mils in quite the pickle.

Man, did I go on a tangent, but it's an interesting thought experiment.

Even then, Paul spoke out against gentiles being forced to be Jewish before becoming Christian.
