    Eh, Chicago isn't that scary. Chances are pretty low that you'll end up shot or stabbed if you lifestyle doesn't cross over into the world of those getting shot and stabbed.

    Hey, if that fear keeps a couple of tourists off the street, that makes it easier for this tourist to get into a restaurant. It interesting that that page OP linked makes it pretty plain that the places where out-of-towners usually go are not in the free fire zone.

    - I grew up in "the region" before migrating to Lafayette. I never had an issue when going to Chicago, but it's hard to ignore the violence you see in the media everyday. What perpetuates this idea of Chicago is that a large amount of criminals arrested in Gary, Lafayette, Indianapolis and so on are thugs from Chicago.

    Bleh, grew up on the South Side. I try not to scare the thug-life wannabes too much when I go to Chicago, nowadays. :laugh:
