The typical Hyde Park gated condo is no fortress by any means, although I'm sure the residents think they are safer than the hoi polloi U of C students and other assorted pawns.

IIRC the U of C has one of the largest PD forces in Illinois, combined with extra patrols from CPD, they do tend to have a relatively low violent crime rate.

For those that are not tuned into Chicago, the University of Chicago Police stopped patrolling off campus recently. The UCPD used to be a frequent sight on the Lakeshore condos where the white liberals (and some of Kirk's friends) live. Life was amazing, near utopian with money, opportunities and a lack of the real life consequences of their votes.

Now you have probes into the ward and a little south from Kenwood, to East Park Village (55th Street, Museum of Science and Industry). Ambushes (armed robberies) from the condos to the groceries, restaurants, and parking garages (parking is at a premium there and wealthy white liberals will buy parking spaces in the parking garages or churches) there.

Yes, they get hit going to or coming from the parking garages where they park their extra cars but no hot burglaries that I am aware of.

In all probability she will be reelected to that office as many times as she runs for it. That neighborhood is insane, you can hear gunshots in it regularly and people as of a couple of years ago were buying houses for 750k and tearing them down and building new McMansions with basement theaters next to the panic rooms with Generators etc. Houses are fully wired for security but if the S ever hits the fan they are surrounded by ghetto on 3 sides and a lake on the other.
