I know that you mean legal slavery ended 150 years ago but it should be noted that slavery still exists in America and is something we should continue to work to extinguish.
Much of which is a result of human trafficking, which comes through the southern border. But oh yeah, remind me again which party wants open borders?

Not sure why you're attacking my statement as if its an endorsement for human trafficking. It has been going on through republican and democrat presidencies.

Didnt the Rep. start to build a wall.....or at least Trump did any way.

Now its a fracking zoo down there with no end in sight.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Clinton started the wall.

Illegal immigration was not a political issue until well into this SJW circus.

One wing of my ancestors on my dad's side were taken from their homes in Ireland by Oliver Cromwell and sent to the new world in chains, and their properties and homes were stolen. People these days like to call them "indentured servants" in an effort to downplay and minimize the fact that white people were slaves too, but make no mistake. They were slaves.
And treated much worse than the African slaves for the most part.

Had to do with the difference between being an economic slave where someone paid a heck of a lot of money for and being a political slave that was despised and no one gave a damn about them.

The first slaves in the new world were not Africans. They were the natives. But they died in droves from the old world diseases.

The next slaves were Europeans, mostly the Irish and some others. But they didn't survive the malarial diseases. Economically it didn't make sense to spend the money to get them here only to have most of them die in a few months.

African slaves were a much better deal. They survived malaria and other tropical diseases because they came from that type of climate with those diseases. They survived and were a good investment for plantation owners in the New World. They weren't enslaved because they were Black. it had nothing to do with racism. It was all about economics.

That Is not a citation. More like a guess. Perhaps if you cannot specifically back up the outrageous claim of another, it would be wise to let the claimant do so

If this is some sex trafficking canard or indentured domestic servant thing, I would point out in advance that those are illegal. if we are saying slavery still exists in America in the context in which it was used it must necessarily mean legal, socially accepted slavery. Someone who has a Phillipino housekeeper who is not paid and perhaps locked in when off duty is a criminal, not an example of slavery existing in America, anymore than some psycho who abducts a woman and keeps her chained in the basement is an example of legalized prostitution

Since the race card is used so much and the call for reparations for black Americans this article puts this into prospective. Should reparations be paid if the slaves were owned by black slave owners?

This article also provides information contrary to popular false history being pushed by Hollywood and the Media about how mean slave owners were.
Compensated emancipation was a method of ending slavery, under which the enslaved person's owner received compensation in exchange for manumitting them. This could be monetary, or it could be a period of labor, an indenture.[1] Cash compensation rarely was equal to the slave's market value.

An indenture was seen as a compromise between slavery and outright emancipation, an intermediate step. However, a characteristic of compensated emancipation was that no one was very happy with it. Owners complained that their compensation was small compared with their loss; they were paid less, often much less, than what the slaveowner could have sold the enslaved person for (the market value). Governments and non-slaveowning citizens complained about the financial burden of compensating the owners, while for the formerly enslaved it seemed ludicrous that those who had all along benefited from slavery should now receive additional compensation, while its victims received no compensation whatsoever.

To be sure, the indentures system represented for the formerly enslaved an improvement over slavery itself; those indentured could not be forcibly relocated, children and other family members could not be taken away by force, and they could no longer be whipped or raped. However, they were still not free.[

No, it means that laying the blame on all white people is ridiculous. Plenty of other ethnicities also practiced slavery, or were slaves as well.
Acting like the US and white people are the problem is demonstrating a complete lack of historical education or awareness of the world outside of our borders.
Absolutely correct, and if you go even further back in history before slavery here you will find that the blacks were slaves and sold into slavery in Africa by their other blacks. Slavery was more prevalent in Africa to other blacks and not just to the white.

This post is completely garbage, starting with the first sentence. There is no comparison to the Irish indentured servitude to the enslavement of Africans in the New World. Yes, the Irish were very akin to slaves, but their treatment was significantly better.
First, if were talking about outside of North America, African slaves in South America and the Caribbean were treated horribly. It was literally cheaper to work a slave to death, and buy a new one, than to give them appropriate care and allow them to reproduce.
Coming back to North America, African slaves could be killed, and it would be a property crime. Kill an indentured servant, and you've committed murder.
If an indentured servant had a child with another indentured servant, that child was born "free." An African slave passed their bondage on to their offspring... and they were perpetually a slave.
And yes, race DID explain why Africans were enslaved (at least in North America). Black skin made it easier to create a social structure of superiors/inferiors, along with the ease of ability to reclaim property, if it ever became "lost." Unlike Native Americans, Africans did not have the ability to slip away, and rejoin their tribes. They were stuck here, and easy to identify. Things like resistance to malaria, and an understand of agriculture were just bonus traits.

    Could be anywhere
There were also white slaves in the south before the civil war...with black owners.

Slavery was a curse upon the south instituted by the British before America was a thing. A slave owning society is a safe agrarian culture for it's imperial masters. It's why England supported the Confederacy during the war of insurrection. They would talk bad about the concept of slavery all day but when it came time to put money down they supported the south.

The Indians were also great slave owners.

Slavery was an almost pervasive practice in the past. The word itself is based on Slavs who were the white slaves of Europe.
