The Beretta 84/Browning BDA 380 is one of my favorite small guns. Don’t currently own one but have had several in the past and enjoyed shooting them. Seeing as they make so many small 9mm now the 84 wouldn’t fit in my carry rotation but I would still like to have one for range, plinking or maybe an occasional trip to the store. The price on the nickel versions has really skyrocketed!

I've been tempted several times to pick up one from Classic. I did get one of the .32 versions (model number is escaping me at the moment) and it's DoggyMama's favorite. First time I took her shooting with it, she was cleaning the plate rack at my club right off the bat, and she's not an experienced shooter.

Edit: It was a Model 81.

I believe with the Berettas you can swap out the 380 or the 32 barrel and have yourself the other gun

That would be cool! I've been on the lookout for a 9mm Luger barrel for my CZ-52, but the only one I've found on Gunbroker went stupid high. It came down to me and one other guy bidding, and I bailed out at around $400... for a freaking barrel! :faint: I was pretty glad to lose that one.

I have a model 81 in .32acp. Very well-made, nice shooting pistol. I cooked up some light handloads for it (had to buy and modify a .32 S&W mold so I could cast bullets for it since .32acp stuff is pretty much impossible to come by these days) and it's about like shooting a .22LR.

I had an 84 (double stack version) for the wife for a while. fun and accurate but a ridiculous amount of felt recoil for .380 out of that heavy of a gun.

    Straight blowback
well aware of that and in spite of it. It's much harsher than the clone we still have (girsan/zenith/chiappa MC14) and CZ83. I've shot other blowback .380s. My TCP sucks less to shoot and while it's a locking design, it weighs less than a loaded 84 mag.

Just bought a hand select beretta 85bb from classic myself. Will post a picture here when I pick it up. Ordered Sunday night and it's arriving Wednesday morning. Already bought extra mags from DK Firearms and may order some wood grips.

My experience with Classic is they send you scrap iron in spite of the narrative and video of superb guns. Crooks, never again.

I have an 84 - Great gun. It was one of my 1st gun purchases to complement my 92F.
Agree! Great guns and such a good example of Beretta quality, craftsmanship, and beauty of design. IMHO...very few guns ever made (for sure mass produced) will ever have the sexy lines of the Berettas of this period...especially the 92's! Just plain beautiful!

Here is mine with the hand pick. Couple signs of wear but nothing bad at all. Internals look nearly flawless. Overall, pretty happy with it for the price. Can't wait to get some wood grips.
