So... all these documents about to be released by WikiLeaks are STOLEN. Duh.

Question I have is, how/where does this looser get these "stolen" U.S. documents?:dunno: It HAS to be more than getting them out of a dumpster at the back of the Pentagon. Why has no one been charged with treason? There HAS to be a traitor somewhere in the Pentagon. How else would this guy obtain ALL these so called secret documents? Something just smells fishy about all this.

Whatever they are, this is treason in time of war. Summary execution for all involved. It boggles me that nothing is being done to stop this.

It was PFC Bradley Manning that allegedly leaked it.

I hope he gets a firing squad for his treason.

How would a Private get access to ALL these secret documents? Not doubting you, but all these thousand's of documents? I assume he has been arrested AND charged with treason?

So, he had some kind of access to State Department documents too? Wow, someone was asleep at the switch. Sounds like some "higher ups" need to be charged also. OR, is he simply going to be a patsy?

Well, sorta what Bigum said. The feds are trying to pin it on Manning. No-one knows if he's just their fall guy, or what. I think if they had solid proof they'd have said something or gone ahead with a speedy trial. It could just as easily have been any of thousands of people that have released these latest documents. We'll just have to wait and see. Personally, I think it's just a matter of transparency in government. It's happened many times before (like the Pentagon Papers) and will happen many times in the future.

They should find the people that leaked these communications. Try them. If convicted sentence them to death (I am anti-death penalty, but hell has a special place for traitors and spies). Walk the appeal over to SCOTUS. If turned down immediately take them out back and hang them. Put it on Spike TV for free. HD / 3D where available.

They need to find this sex offender that runs Wikileaks and deliver him to a secret undisclosed location (90 0) from 30,000 feet. No parachute. We want to be humane.

I can't even express how disgusted I am at that claim this is nothing more than government transparency. It show how feeble minded some people are. There have been people killed as a result of the first couple docudumps by Wikileaks. There will be far more embarrassment to the United States. Not the government. The people.

I guess I have a second question on this. This appears to be coming form the "hate America" crowd. I haven't heard about any other nation's secret documents being leaked. Am I correct?

I totally agree with SemperFi on this one! Only difference is I'm not anti death penalty. I just can't believe the POS that runs WikiLeaks hasn't met with an... uh... shall we say.... uh... accident.

    :

It seems that Wikileaks has a thing for the US. What I've heard about these State Dept cables sounds like what I'd expect to hear in the diplomatic communications of most countries. I think we are the target because we are the US.

I'd love to see what is in, say the French or UK "diplomatic pouches".

Nothing good comes from this type of disclosure.

What does loving your country mean to you? Loving the government? Defending the government even when it is corrupt and wrong? Enabling it to commit further mistakes by covering for crooks?

Perhaps loving America means you want the government to be kept in line, follow the constitution, not waste tax-money, fire corrupt employees, etc.

    Your thoughts?

I haven't heard about any other nation's secret documents being leaked. Am I correct?

Could it be that the mysterious insider only has inside information on one government... the American government?

How many governments does one person have time to expose?

I just can't believe the POS that runs WikiLeaks hasn't met with an... uh... shall we say.... uh... accident.

If the government murders people who tell the truth, I'd want that to be exposed too.

I don't believe the person "running" WikiLeaks is an American, so "loving your country" has nothing to do with what HE'S doing. If your talking about the Private that is suspected of stealing and giving the documents to WikiLeaks, it isn't HIS place to decide. He can be considered nothing but a traitor. IF convicted. I fully understand the Private has access to American documents only. I was wondering if any other country's documents have been leaked by WikiLeaks.

If by murder you mean if the private is convicted and put to death, I don't consider that murder. He is a traitor to his country period. Again I say it ISN'T his place to leak documents that are the property of the US government. If a group of officers decided to overthrow the President, IMO that is no different than what this Private has done. A traitor is a traitor.

Is the United States a perfect nation.... NO it's not. Does the government do things it shouldn't...YES. You must remember it isn't the US government that is bad, it is SOME people that are running it. Our form of government is still the best "type" man has come up with... so far. How can trying to tear down our country be of any help to anyone who truely loves their country.:dunno: How can releasing these documents be of any help to anyone? Unless you've been hiding under a rock for the past half century is ANY of this REALLY surprising? So again, what's the point?

To each his/her own but, IMO there isn't a bogey man hiding under EVERY rock. While there are things the US government does that I do not like, I could not live feeling someone was out to get me every hour of every day. Personally I haven't seen enough to believe there is some "grand scheme" to "get me".... at least not yet.:twocents:

From my understanding, the owner of Wikileaks is an Australian. The latest leaks are from the State Department. I don't know what an Army private has to do with State Department communications. Here is a thought. Who is the head of the State Department? Yes, that is correct, the Secretary of State. Who is currently the Secretary of State? Yes, you're right again, Hillary Clinton. Who ran against Obama for the Democrat nomination in 2008? Right again, Hillary Clinton. Which person in the State Department would benefit the most, politically speaking, from embarrassing Obama and causing him problems with his foreign policy?

Geez, guys. Read the links a little.

Manning worked in the Army as an Intel Specialist. He had access to SIPRNet. Look it up as I'm not writing all of it out here, it's too long for me to do so.

SIPR has UNCLAS/CONFIDENTIAL/SECRET information on it, but no TOP SECRET information. There is military info on this network in additions to State Dept. information. It's mixed. There's a few more agencies that put info on that net, but again, I'm not typing it all out here.

The computers are "air gapped" between the computers that are hooked to the internet (unclassified info only) and SIPR (classified) so that no hacker can get to the classified info from the internet.

Manning took a thumb drive with him into work, which was against the rules but his supervisors let him slide. While he was supposedly listening to music on the thumb drive, he was actually downloading info off of SIPR.

Manning then followed the instructions of Wikileaks and sent the info to them. Before this, Wikileaks had never had an "informer" caught by any .gov in the world. Manning was turned in to the US .gov by another hacker that he bragged about the theft to, and that guy (Lamo is his name) grew a conscience and turned him in.

I believe that there is SOOOOOOOOOOO much that we will never know here! Seriously, a private hacking ALL of that info! Go to zerohedge.com, wikileaks allegedly has the same kind of embarrassing material on a major US bank that is going to be released early next year. THAT should be interesting and will probably be his (Wiki founder) time for an "accident".

My understanding is that he had access to the computer that had the communications. Also, supposedly he smuggled it out on a DVD.

Treason has a specific meaning for which his acts do not meet the criteria.

These documents wouldn't have gotten out if the US government didn't want them leaked.

I don't know the reason the government wanted them out, but misinformation could be one.
