Peachy's is a amish store past Rockville lake.
    They sell tons of stuff
including big bags of montana wheat, sugar, oats, and a few other grains
here is a quick run down
    dried soup mixes,
    dried pasta
spices by the tub (priced very cheap when compared to what you pay at the store)
    cheeses
    some meats
    dry pudding mixes
tons of canning struff like pickle mixes salsa mixes
clear jel in large bags (used in canning certain fruits)
    sure jel
some stuff I have never heard of before :)

to answer your question on clear jel
when canning some fruits it calls for clear jel not "sure jel" and no you cannot substitue. wife used it when she canned peach pie filling ( south carolina peaches mmmmmmmm)
this is the only store I have found localy that carries it.
anyway the Amish that run it are always nice, store is open Mon-Sat (closes at 4 on Sat)
Cash or check only .. no cards

they're Amish, and on Facebook ?

Yeah, that seemed strange to me too. It turns out that it's what they call a community page on facebook, meaning someone put them on facebook.

they're Amish, and on Facebook ?

I personally know Amish who have phones (in the work area only) and some who use computers for E-mail and other stuff (at the neighbors) or have electric lights in the house (powered by a generator). Some will even deliver goods to your door (though they won't be driving the car ;)).

While it varies from group to group, not all Amish, even the Old Order, completely shun modern technology, but I don't know of any who personally joined facebook.

The main points are not to allow the particular convenience to 1) interfere with their daily lives (e.g. ringing phone in the home) or 2) create dependence outside the Amish community, as in the case of electricity from the grid.

The Amish have been quintessential "preppers" since living off the land (what you can grow/raise) became the exception rather than the norm.

Sorry to drag up this old post, but I found it in search. I'll just post here instead of making a new thread about the same place.

I am really happy to learn this place exists just up the highway from us. I'm going to go there just after the holidays to see for myself if they are as great as everyone says!

Question: Does anyone on here know what their hours are?

    Thanks!

You guys need to check out the "Amish Walmart " just south of Fountain City on 27. For those of us closer to Ohio than Illinois.
