Without a doubt. Of course the media would have to report that the MAGA hat wearers were members of the Klan who crossed the line to harass the freedom fighters. But then they’d have to crop out the anti-kkk signs the MAGA people are carrying, and what with social media and all, independent reporters would post the truth.

This culture war isn’t really just between the fringe sides. It’s a three-way battle including the sane people, as well as the fringes. The spoils aren’t just for one of the fringes to win over society to their fringe worldview. The sane part of the battle is to keep reality available to as many sane people as possible.

In the culture war, the fringes won this encounter. For those sympathetic to left of center politics, seeing black panthers and blue-haired feminists overwhelm an insignificant number of racists is a win for the fringe causes, without being a win against racism itself. They could have taken this that America isn’t as racist as they think it is. But the media spun it in a left vs right us vs them way. So it’s a loss for the right of center people because to the left leaning sane people, it still seems like MAGA=racism.

No way to counter that narrative except for them to see Trump supporters rejecting racism, as well as seeing the media lie about it. A lot of rank and file people even left leaning are seeing the truth of things through the cracks. Would be effective to keep working on the cracks to expose the media’s inaccurate portrayals of Republicans.
