    OK, I think I got it. I'd like to have a suppressor on my AR. I'd like it to be 16" or 18" in total length. If I cut the barrel down to permanently attach a suppressor, I don't have to make it an SBR and only have to pay $200 in tax stamps right?

    If I cut it down and make it detachable, $200 to make it an SBR plus $200 for the can right?

    I do not recommend the perma-attached suppressor method, it makes it hard to clean both the barrel and the suppressor, and also limits your use of the suppressor on other hosts.
