If you want to purchase for collectibility and future value appreciation, then get a real HK P7. If you want a shooter, the P7Pro looks like a good alternative to the real thing.

It is but modern pistols are also specifically built for a price point/ease of manufacture. The P7 is an engineers wet-dream with little concern for cost. It's not that it's hard to make per-se, it's actually a piece of cake but the time to produce and assemble each is much longer plus the waste material from subtractive manufacturing rather than casting/forging/printing frames. Can't crank them out fast enough nor would there be enough demand for volume to bring the price down. Maybe printing the rough then machining the finish, but then you have another machine to amortize.

I had a P7M8 I bought in 1995 for $650. Ended up trading it for a HK USP Compact a few years later. I so regret not keeping it.
