Well for anyone interested in forum statistics, this was the last subforum to have less than 1K messages, and that was the last message before reaching 1K.

    Morning all.

Gave myself my first Enbrel injection this morning for Rheumatoid Arthritis. Showed RA symptoms at age 24, formally was diagnosed at age 25 with RA, so I've been dealing with RA for almost 40 years. I was on Humira for several years, it worked well until it failed. Switched to Cimzia, which was OK but never worked great, tried that for almost 2 years, but it failed. So now I'm onto Enbrel.

Humira used a self injecting 'pen' or 'cartridge' so I'm happy to have that again with the Enbrel, which uses a similar auto-injection device. The Cimzia required me to give myself 2 injections, using a traditional syringe, which was a pretty rough thing to do. But the Cimzia dose was 400ml vs an Enbrel dose that is only 1/10th the amount.

I will pray for that that this works well.

When I was on Cimzia, they insisted that I have it administered at an infusion center. Most of the time I got nurses aides who did not know how to properly administer them, and I was paying $800/month.

I was not thrilled with giving myself shots with Cimzia but if I had to go to an infusion center I would have been pretty darn unhappy. My normal Cimzia dosage included 2 of these nasty things. 200ml each. For a 400ml total. And the medicine tended to have a 'burning' sensation at each of the 2 injection sites. Fun times.

To put that into perspective, my Enbrel injection is one of those fancy pens that has 40ml, or 1/10th the amount and takes about 15 seconds with no visible needle.

My migraine medicine used an autoinjector. Easy to do at home.

Near as I understand it, the auto-injectors, cartridge/pen injectors are only used for small quantities of fluids.

Consequently the Cimzia required real needles and syringes. Each of the Cimzia shots has the same amount of liquid as 5 of my new Enbrel injections, and I had to take 2 of the Cimzia shots for each dose. I'm glad to be done with that medicine but honestly I'd keep doing it if it had actually worked better for me.

Still patiently awaiting my radio call sign.

The ARRL apparently snail mails the testing sessions into their HQ in CT who then enter it electronically to the FCC after which it takes only minutes to process. Probably mailed out Monday so I'm crossing my remaining fingers for tomorrow.
