Lookin like all manufacturers are walking away from ev stuff now, ford stopped completely, dodge announced they’re moving away and gm has stopped all ev development. Japan is expected to follow suit
Not exactly. None of them are walking away, they are not expanding as quickly as originally planned.

Nah, not accurate, much of the anti-EV news is overstated hype.

They are not expanding development, that is different that stopping or walking away

They are not expanding plants, and some have slowed production, because they over-produced demand

Demand is actually still growing, but growing at a slower than anticipated rate. The rate of growth is expected to continue, and actually go up at a faster rate. Remember that several states are following Kalifornia and will be outlawing the sale of ICE cars in 11 years.

Gubmint sold the manufacturers a bill of goods, and gave consumers mandates, but consumers are simply not buying them as fast as they can produce them

Despite being butt ugly, the Tesla model Y is in the TOP 10 cars sold in the US today

*** FWIW, I am pretty anti-EV, especially after looking at new cars in the fall of 2023, and buying a new vehicle, none of the EV offerings seemed to offer a good enough value to me, especially given the trade offs in range. But I drive a lot of miles. My new 2022 Honda Ridgeline passed 37,000 miles on the odometer in January. Our new 2023 Toyota is almost at 9000.

I can tell you that the new battery plant in Kokomo is getting delayed more and more. Jobs that were slated to open 1st quarter are being pushed back.

Now that the Super Bowl party is over, and the cleanup is done, the feet are up and bourbon (Castle & Key) is in the glass. All the crock pots are soaking to visit the dishwasher tomorrow morning. +$875 works for me. Throw the next year's anty in the safe and play again.

Always felt hydrogen is the way to go, after natural gas. Up in Minnesota on a route to S Dakota, NG is available all the way, aimed at big rigs. Quick Way, I believe, is the gas chain with the natural gas access. GM is working with Autocar on hydrogen trucks.

There is no infrastructure for hydrogen. Think the roll out is slow for EV charging stations? Hydrogen stations only currently exist in people’s dreams, literally something under 5 stations in the entire US

NG would be a lot quicker to deploy, much cleaner burning than gasoline, plenty of stations exist for trucks, but range is reduced about 10% when switching to NG. Current ICE vehicles/production lines (and ICE/Hybrids) can be converted to NG. Almost any gas station with a NG supply from the utility company could theoretically add some NG pumps.

GM-Honda are working on Hydrogen cars too. Probably not for the North American market? I think there are some hydrogen stations in Australia.

Semi truck - SUV (?) accident on U.S. 30 this morning. I came through before 8:30a and the accident had happened, I believe, 30 minutes before or less. The truck was coming out of the Walgreens distribution place about 1/2 mile east of the water park and what I believe to have been an Equinox (definitely Chevy, but pretty destroyed) sheered off everything above the bottom of the windshield under the trailer. My guess is that the Chevy crested the rise going east, probably too fast, and had the sun in his eyes. Didn't see the trailer until too late, if at all. Had to still be going a good clip to go as far under as it did. The crest of the rise coming eastbound has plenty of space to slow or stop before the Walgreens entrance, but you would have to see the truck across the lanes and start braking pretty soon- that's where my sun theory comes in. It was dead-center in my rear-view when I was further east on 30.

It's possible the driver survived if he leaned over or ducked down fast enough....but that is pretty optimistic. The accident investigation people were showing up when I passed- westbound was down to one lane as the tractor was already partially in the westbound lane.

    Looking for more info.

    [ETA} There it is- fatality.

    Tragic.

I forgot to mention that when I waiting in line to get through, there was an ambulance there, but it was gone by the time I got through. It didn't look like there had been an extraction from the vehicle, so....Also, the article says a 2016 Chevy suv, so at least my car spotting skills are still there.
