Times are tough here. Did 45 minutes at 130 BPM on the Air Dyne bike and tried to match the 15 push ups and 15 sit ups I'd done a couple days now. Even with this minimum level I can feel definite changes/improvement in stomach and back muscles I didn't even know were this weak. The sit up/crunchs are really taking a toll on my back, I've actually lost ground on those as it takes me two sessions to do the 15 and started doing just as many as I can and doing 4-5 sessions a day.

It gets easier if you keep at it but it still sucks.

Yeah, I got back to 10 sit ups but it is killing my back. That is the stopper but I'm just WEAK where those muscles are. I've had arthritis in that lower back area for 40 years so there's that. The 15 push ups is nailed. I need to bump that next time.

If I get to 25 push ups I'm going to try doing them on my knuckles like the old days. It takes a completely different muscle group. Oh yeah, and it sucks. Sucks bad. You have to like it to suck to do those.

But on the plus side, this can be felt working almost with every set. I've now got pants in waist sizes 42, 40, 38 and I'm thinking of buying just one pair in 36 just to prove to my self I could really wear them. I can't wear all these out in 3 life times. I've got 38's I've never torn the tags off.

The only person I ever pay attention to running is the guy who runs up and down the road I live on every morning. Always has a scowl on his face. Always runs in the middle of the lane facing traffic on a narrow country road. Won’t get out of the way. Expects cars to go around him. And wears clothes to run in that are difficult to see, especially when it’s dark. As if he’s daring someone to hit him.

I think most people don’t watch runners much. Unless they’re providing a reason to watch.
That's not how pedestrian/traffic laws work, even out in the sticks.

I would stop in the middle of the lane and force him to go around you, just to make the point.

Been eating too much and too much carbs the last few days. GOT to get that back under control. On the PLUS side I've got my sit ups and push ups built up to 22 in set and I managed the 22 several times today in the push up. For some reason I do better with the push ups than sit up type things. I'd like to hit the 25 mark tomorrow is my goal.

My weight is coming down nicely, but my blood sugar is suddenly a problem. I am diabetic and have been on the same meds for at least a year, and suddenly my blood glucose has been in the 60-80 range most of the time. If I eat, it might go up to 90-100. The lower it goes, the shakier and more tired I become. Need to message my doctor.

90-100 is where it SHOULD be. Are you using Metformin? Try cutting a tab 25% and see where your sugar goes in 8 hours.

Any sugars or carbs will raise your blood glucose level. What are you eating?

That's true also. I have lost 40 lbs, so maybe the sugar just came down on its own.
I don’t really know much about Metformin, other than it reduces your intestine’s ability to absorb glucose. I assume the more you take the less glucose you can absorb.

So it seems to me that you were dosed for your needs at the time. So changing your diet, and exercising more, would tend to reduce your blood sugar. So maybe as suggested, you wouldn’t need the same dose you’ve been taking. But I think your doctor could figure out what dose you need.

I quit eating cereals for breakfast. I just mix up an instant breakfast now. I get hungrier for lunch sooner than I used to. So I tend to have lunch earlier. A light lunch. And a normal dinner. I’ve felt much better since.

I don’t monitor my weight. I monitor belt notches. :): I lost a belt notch since quitting cereals.

Yeah, I've lost a few belt notches. Gonna need to punch some new holes or get a new belt.

Poptart for breakfast, sandwich and raw vegetables for lunch, some sort of meat/veg for dinner, snack mostly on nuts.
If you want to both lose weight and reverse Type II diabetes (I am assuming you don’t have Type I) a limit of 20 grams of carbs a day moves you from burning glucose to burning ketones. That is basically the keto diet. Once in ketosis your body will more easily burn your own fat. Poptarts (1) has about 36 grams of carbs. One slice of bread has about 15 grams of carbs, about the same as one apple.

So the pop tart (1) plus bread (2 slices) is about 66 grams of carbs alone. Your blood glucose will definitely rise depending when you measure it. That high glucose level raises the insulin level which in the case of someone with diabetes probably is suffering from insulin resistance which is what leads to Type II diabetes depending on the person. This can happen to lean people too, again depending on the person so even some athletes find themselves in a pre-diabetes condition.

Americans have too high of blood glucose levels generally due to the standard American diet.

As I posted above, my blood glucose is currently very low, and I am losing weight plenty fast. I'm good with not changing my diet dramatically.

Sounds like you are on a good path.

Keep the solid information given in mind for the future. As you are losing weight, you'll hit plateaus where subtle changes can help.

Drastic changes in eating habits often make the journey overwhelming. It's taken me years to turn down the bad for me "gifts" that I earned for losing weight.

If you are like me, you'll grow into better lifestyle habits as you get better results. Also learn as you go when it becomes obvious you need to change further.

Then there is the other motivation. IIRC, you and I are in the same age range. We need to be tracking things that could make a difference in how older age treats us, right?

Sounds great. I am currently at the lowest weight I have gotten over the last 14 years. I would get to close to this weight then shoot right back up over time. This time I needed a lifestyle change that would be consistent to lose more and stay there so time will tell. Got 24 more pounds to go to get where I want.
